1. Minutes were reviewed and approved
2. Committee Updates
Founding Fathers Celebration on April 9—went well
Volunteer Recognition—Madonna will contact the clubs to be honored. Glory will have plaques
made up. Waubonsee Community College will also be there as it is their 40°i Anniversary. Glory
will also have a plaque for them. The Award Ceremony will be at I p.m. There was concern
expressed about the condition of the road by the Riverfront Park as there is construction going on.
Music Under the Stars—all work has been done.
July 4°i —Float—There was discussion on the wording and who would sit on the float. It was
decided to honor the Founding Fathers and then ask all former and current Mayors to sit on the
float, also. Valerie suggested contacting current Alderman to contact previous Alderpersons from
their Ward to organize cars for the parade.
July 4°i— Procession and Ice Cream Social—Barry and Mike and Art are working on getting the
bridge closed. Meadowvale will donate 2000 Dixie cups of ice cream, but no wooden spoons and
probably no refrigerated trucks. Madonna will contact Jason about coolers and spoons. Glory will
talk to Scott about logistics to getting people through the line(s) to get the ice cream in an orderly
fashion.
Time Capsule—There was discussion on the wording to be on the instructions. The two
possibilities were reviewed and Glory will combine the best of both. It was suggested that only the
nanle(s) of the family providing the info for the envelopes should be on the outside, since putting a
'to' designation would not work 50 years from now as people change names and move and it
would be a burden on future openers of the time capsule to find people.
3 Glory will work on the PR for the newspapers. We are not seeking sponsorships, but will
acknowledge all those who donate cash or `in-kind,'
4 There being no additional business, meeting was adjourned.
Next meeting will be Monday, May 21, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at City Conference Room.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted
