COMMUNITY AD-HOC 50'ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE

1. Minutes were reviewed and approved.
2. Glory Spies the city's Community Relations Officer reported that the Founding
Fathers and the past mayors were contacted through a letter inviting them to
participate on the city float and to participate in the other festivities during the
day. Ron Parrish said he would contact individuals to help pass out candy, bags
and pencils during the parade. He also said he would contact a few past mayors to
participate. Madonna Bialek said she would contact Eldon Madden, an original
founding father to participate.
3. Further discussion focused on the float and what it should say. The committee
decided that the float should say Two Communities Coming Together as One.
Glory would contact the float company and let them know. She also said that the
float would be at the Yorkville High School at approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 4
and that all volunteers should meet her at the high school.
4. The Committee also decided to provide t-shirts for the founding fathers riding in
the parade and for all volunteers. The shirts will contain a photo of a bridge, the
slogan "Two Communities Coming Together as One', and will have the founding
fathers and past mayor names on the back of the shirt.
5. Officer Barry Groesch said that the Police Department was ready to go and would
provide a police officer at the crosswalk by Town Square Park to guide all
residents across the street that were participating in the procession at 1:30 p.m.
6. Glory also reported that all other items for the July 4 event were ready to go
including the Ice Cream and set up for the Ice Cream Social at Riverfront Park.
7. There was a brief discussion on the Time Capsule ceremony. The committee will
have a table at Hometown Days to collect the envelopes. Glory will contact Scott
Sleezer on the placement of the capsule.
8. With no additional business the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Next meeting will be on Monday,July 23.
