Meeting minutes of February 21, 2007
Location: Police Department Conference Room
Call to Order:
Cecelia called the meeting to order at 6:09pm. Quorum established.

December's meeting minutes were reviewed. Tom motioned to approve, Lorene seconded.
APPROVED.
Committee Reports:
City Liaison: This years Polar Plunge at Silver Springs starts at 1pm, March 4th. Registration is earlier
in the day. Also the CPA is starting its 11"' class, date is unknown at the moment, March sometime.

School Board: None
New Business:
Sponsorships-The Junior Womens Club requested that HRC waive fees for the use of Town Square
for their Annual Craft Fair on May 19th, 2007. They must still provide a deposit fee for the days usage
of the park. Madonna motioned to approve, .Jeff seconded. Motion APPROVED
- The Kendall County Senior Provider Group is hosting an Elder Friendly Summit at Trinity
Methodist Church. They request a sponsorship from the HRC in an amount not exceeding$150.
Madonna motioned to approve, Lorene seconded. Motion APPROVED.
- The Salvation Army Golden Diners requested sponsorship from the HRC a cash contribution to
help them provide meals to homebound seniors. The HRC will make a donation of an amount not
exceeding$220 to the program. Diana motioned to approve, Tom seconded. Motion APPROVED.
- The 2007 Gold Star Performance Company Business Sponsor Program has requested sponsorship
from the United City of Yorkville. The HRC denied the request for sponsorship.
Volunteer of the Year Award- Two nominations have been submitted to the HRC.
- Teresa Weden, chairperson of the Jr. Womens Club, has been nominated by Melissa Burks. As
stated, Teresa was a major organizer of the Operation Santa program and is the chairperson for Jr.
Womens spring and fall craftshows. As stated, she willingly gives much time into her volunteer
projects for Yorkville residents.
- Card (Sarge) Strause, chairman of the American Legion Oratorical Contest at YHS for six years,has
been nominated K.ennth A. Havelka. As stated, Carl promotes and encourages contestants of the
Oratorical Contest to participate in citizenship education. He does this three months of the the year.
His dedication is to the success of every student contestant and is an inspiration.

More nominations are needed to complete selection process. The HRC members will distribute more
copies of the nomination form to encourage more participants.
Old Business:
Historical Street Name Nominations— Irvin F. Monkamier was submitted a second time by Shirley
Anne Briggs. Irvin was a role model citizen of the Yorkville and was prominent volunteer member at
Cross Lutheran Church. Jeff motioned to send nomination to City Council for approval. Lorene
seconded. Motion carried.
Volunteer Opportunities Brochure—Glory has received many responses from area organizations
requesting participation. Many requests need to be revised and there is not enough time to formulate all
of them.
Additional Business:
Dana Jones has had to attend school-related meetings and has been not able to make it to the HRC
meetings. As soon as the meetings end, Dana will return.
Cecelia motioned to adjourn, all members seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:53pm. Next meeting is on
Wednesday, March 21" 2007.
