AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS,
PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF VEHICLE SPEED UPON CERTAIN STREETS
WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville (the "City ") is a duly organized and validly existing
non home -rule municipality created in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970
and the laws of the State; and,
WHEREAS, the Illinois Compiled Statutes Vehicle Code, 625 ILCS 5/11 -601, et seq., sets forth
a comprehensive system for the regulation of vehicle speeds within the state of Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the United City of Yorkville has determined that it will
promote the public health, safety and welfare, and that it is in the best interests of the City to amend the
City Code of the United City of Yorkville as set forth herein.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the United City
of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1. Section 6 -3 -3 of Title 6 (Motor Vehicles and Traffic), Chapter 3 (Traffic Schedules),
Section 3 (Speed Restrictions) of the United City of Yorkville Code of Ordinances is hereby deleted in
its entirety and replaced with the following:
6 -3 -3: SPEED RESTRICTIONS: The provisions of this section regulating the speed of vehicles shall
not apply to emergency vehicles while the driver thereof is engaged in the performance of emergency
duties. Any person violating or failing to comply with the provisions of this section shall be fined and
shall pay, upon entering a plea of guilty or upon being found guilty of a violation hereof a penalty as
provided in section 1 -4 -1 of this code.
MILL ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Mill Road from Kennedy Road to Allegiance
Crossing is hereby designated at forty -five (45) miles per hour.
KENNEDY ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Kennedy Road from Galena to Route 47 is
hereby designated at forty-five (45) miles per hour.
EAST MAIN STREET: The maximum speed limit upon East Main Street from Route 47 to
Bruell Street is hereby designated at thirty (30) miles per hour.
WING ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Wing Road from Route 71 to Route 126 is
hereby designated at thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
WEST RIVER ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon West River Road from Blackberry
Creek to 1800' West is hereby designated at forty-five (45) miles per hour.
CANNONBALL TRAIL: The maximum speed limit upon Cannonball Trail from Route 34 to
Route 47 is hereby designated at forty -five (45) miles per hour.
WEST FOX STREET: The maximum speed limit upon West Fox Street from White Oak Way
to Poplar Drive is hereby designated at forty -five (45) miles per hour.
GREENBRIAR ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Greenbriar Road from Route 47 to
Walsh Drive is hereby designated at for (40) miles per hour.
EAST COUNTRYSIDE PARKWAY: The maximum speed limit upon East Countryside
Parkway from Route 47 to Route 34 is hereby designated at forty (40) miles per hour.
MCHUGH ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon McHugh Road from Route 34 to Kennedy
Road is hereby designated at thirty -five (35) miles per hour.
BRISTOL RIDGE ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Bristol Ridge Road from Route 34
to Blackberry Creek is hereby designated at forty (40) miles per hour.
PAVILLION ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Pavillion Road from Fox Road to a point
1700' south of Fox Road is hereby designated at forty -five (45) miles per hour.
ALICE AVENUE: The maximum speed limit upon Alice Avenue from Cannonball Trail to
Faxon Road is hereby designated at thirty -five (35) miles per hour.
FAXON ROAD: The maximum speed limit upon Faxon Road from Beecher Road to east side
of Whispering Meadows is hereby designated at thirty -five (3 5) miles per hour.
Section 2. Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage,
approval, and publication as provided by law.
Section 3. Severability: In the event that any section, clause, provision, or part of this
Ordinance shall be found and determined to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, all valid
parts that are severable from the invalid parts shall remain in full force and effect.
