Fire & Police Commission Minutes 2006 06-28-06 Board of Fire and Police Commission p 6 Minutes 01 June 28, 2006 Meeting called to order at 6:01 p.m. Roll Call: Bob Johnson Mike Anderson Margie Putzler Also Present: Chief Martin Previous Meeting Minutes: Commissioner Putzler moved to approve the minutes from June 7, 2006. Commissioner Anderson seconded. Motion carried. Communications: None Bills for payment: None Unfinished Business: None New Business: Attorney Jim Powers was contacted via conference call to discuss merging the current Eligibility List with a new list should the commission start the testing process for new candidates prior to expiration of the existing list. Any candidates on the existing list shall have the option of retaining their current scores or retesting. If the candidates choose to retest,the same testing process and tests need to be used,. Per Jim Powers recommendation, some minor changes were made to the Rules and Regulations. Chapter 111 10(e) removed ....(regardless of any existing vacancies...). Chapter IV, Section 2 incorporated changes to promotional list and retesting. The potential future change of the probationary period being extended to 18 months was discussed. This will be determined by union negotiations. Commissioner Anderson moved to adopt the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commission as revised. Commissioner Putzler seconded. Roll Call: Chairman Johnson Commissioner Anderson Commissioner Putzler Motion carried, The commissioners unanimously authorized Chief to publish and post the job advertisement, Jim Powers will draft and forward letters to Chief for the candidates on the existing list explaining the procedure and giving them the option to keep their scores or retest, The job posting and the letters shall go out simultaneously. The jobs will be posted in the PSEA, Blue Line, Kendall County Record and Beacon News for 4 weeks with a six week return date on the applications. The next meeting is scheduled for July 31, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Commissioner Anderson moved to adjourn. Commissioner Putzler seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
