Yorkville Public Library
Board of Trustees
January 9, 2006
7:00 pm.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. by President Jo Ann Gryder.
There was a presentation from BCA regarding the colors of the exterior and interior of
the building.
Roll Call
Members present: Gail Gaebler, Beth Gambro, Jo Ann Gryder, Carol LaChance, Sandy
Lindblom, Marilyn Vorderer, and Marianne Wilkinson.
Members absent: Dr. Joseph Gruber, and Russell Walter.
Library Director Michelle Pfister and Owner's Rep Tom Lindblom were also present.

Amendments to the Agenda
None.
Minutes
Under Report of the Treasurer it should read The motion carried with Russ Walter
abstaining. At the end of page 3 instead of architect and testing it should say
architectural fees. Sandy Lindblom moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Beth
Gambro seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion carried.

Public Comment
None.
Report of the Treasurer
The reimbursables were not attached to the bill list. The library will pay the architect the
basic fee,not the reimbursables until the itemized list is received and explained to Tom
Lindblom's satisfaction. Gail Gaebler moved to pay the bills and payroll. Carol
LaChance seconded the motion. All moved to pass with a roll call vote. The motion
carried with all in favor.

Report of the Librarian
Circulation was 4,981 items for December. This is 194 items more than last year. 55
new patrons were added and 430 new items were added.
The Lunch Time Book Club is in it's 3`a month and it had 12 people attending in
December. A lady was hired to do 2 children's programs in December. She did the
Animal Talk and the Fascinating Fish programs, and they had 28 and 24 people
attending, respectively.
Dial's $700 donation arrived, and a$30 memorial was received for Woodrow Harding
from Jodi Gates and Julie Mueller. Woodrow was a baby that had passed away. The
donation from Dial will be used for the summer reading program and for books.
Checkpoint has begun sending supplies. Every book will be tagged and they will be
ready for the Grand Opening.
The Creative Writing Group began this month. It will be meeting 2 times a month and it
already has 4 members.
Lynn Burks has asked to come to a Library Board meeting and talk about the referendum
for the School district. The Library cannot promote voting for or against any issues to
anyone. The Board members felt it might not be appropriate for her to do a presentation
at a Board meeting. She is welcome to come,but she can not do a presentation.

Unfinished Business
Library Addition—There are new pictures of the building in the binder since the last
meeting. Tom Lindblom passed the binder around.
The foundation wall and interior footings are complete. The load bearing masonry wall
is in place. It was tented and heated for 1 week to keep it from freezing. This needed to
be done prior to the steel because the steel will be tied into it.
The 16"water main that runs East to West will be moved. It feeds Fox Hill subdivision
and tomorrow they will do a hot tap to tie it in while the water is flowing.
Henry Brothers has 4 or 5 visitor hard hats in their trailer if anyone want to see the
construction site.
The natural Gas line is in.

The Architect is waiting for the steel drawings to be completed and then fabrication can
begin. It will be fabricated in 4 sections. The steel is expected to start going up the end
of January.
Henry Brothers has subcontracted with S&K which is a local company that will do the
water main, and with LeCure for the painting.
New Business
BCA Interior design-Beth Gambro moved to approve the presentation from BCA.
Marilyn Vorderer seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion carried.
Bronze Plaque details - There will be a plaque inside the foyer of the new building. It
should have the Year, the Library Board of Trustees names, the Librarian's name, the
Mayor's name,the Architect and the General Contractor. The architect will draw what
the plaque will look like before it is made.
Beth Gambro brought up an article on the Channel 5 News about municipalities using
collection agencies. Michelle Pfister said there was an article in the paper about the
collection agency the library will be using. 2 days after the article was in the paper,the
longest overdue book was returned.
