City Council Minutes 1999 06-10-99 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS HELD AT THE KENDALL COUNTY BOARD ROOM, 111 W. FOX ST., YORKVILLE ON THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 1999. REVISED 6-25-99 Mayor Prochaska called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. and led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS Mayor Prochaska welcomed those present and asked them to introduce themselves and to enter their name on the attendance sheet provided. Fox Street - Suite 3 PRESENTATIONS Mayor Prochaska presented Appreciation Certificates to Valerie Burd and Cynthia Fox for starting the Music Under the Stars program. Sue Swithin and Charles Sleezer were also part of the group, but were not present to receive their certificates. Cynthia Fox will be running the program this year and can be reached at 553-7332 if anyone is interested in helping out. CITIZENS COMMENTS Joyce Barrett thanked the City Council for getting the weeds cut down in the Fox Hill Subdivision. Approved by roll call vote. Ayes: 5 Nays: 0 Kot aye Spears aye Burd aye Sowinski aye Sticka aye PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE REPORT APRIL 1999 POLICE REPORT A motion was by Alderman Kot to approve the April 1999 police reports as presented; seconded by Alderman Sowinski. ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE (RESOLUTION) 99-23 CABLE CONSORTIUM - MODIFY BYLAWS A motion was made by Alderman Spears to accept the modifications to the Cable Consortium Bylaws as presented; seconded by Alderman Sticka. Approved by roll call vote. Ayes: 5 Nays: 0 Spears aye Burd aye Sowinski aye Sticka aye Kot aye WEB SITE AGREEMENT WITH SCHOOL DISTRICT 115 A motion was made by Alderman Spears to approve the agreement with Yorkville School District#115 for development of a web site for the City and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said agreement on behalf of the United City of Yorkville; seconded by Alderman Burd. Approved by roll call vote. Ayes: 5 Nays: 0 Burd aye Sowinski aye Sticka aye Kot aye Spears aye (RESOLUTION) 99-24 AUTHORIZATION TO SELL (One resolution - two motions) THE GAME FARM HOUSE A motion was made by Alderman Spears to authorize staff to solicit bids for the sale of the Game Farm House at 804 Game Farm Road to be removed off-site; seconded by Alderman Burd. Approved by roll call vote. Ayes: 5 Nays: 0 Sowinski aye Sticka aye Kot aye Spears aye Burd aye FURNISHING CITY HALL BUILDING A motion was made by Alderman Spears to authorize staff to solicit bids and or pursue other options to purchase or acquire furniture, fixtures and accessories for the new City Hall; seconded by Alderman Sowinski. Approved by roll call vote. Ayes: 5 Nays: 0 Sticka aye Kot aye Spears aye Burd aye Sowinski aye ADDITIONAL BUSINESS Alderman Spears expressed her concern regarding the High School being evacuated because of a gas leak. Police Chief Graff stated the contractor hit the main going to the school. He said they evacuated the school as a precautionary measure. Alderman Spears asked if Nylicare has gone bankrupt. She asked who was paying the employees insurance claims. Attorney Kramer stated that they are in bad shape. Alderman Spears stated that she was told that they aren't paying the employees claims. Attorney Kramer stated that this is why the Council got started in finding a new health insurance.
