Mayor Kittoe informed the council of the purpose of this Special
Council meeting. The purpose is to discuss the Somonauk Street
Stop and Go Light Project and to vote upon the Bids received on the
project.
Administrator Peck informed the Council that after a recent meeting
discussing this project, he noticed that employees of IDOT were in
Yorkville near Somonauk Street. Mr. Peck indicated that he was
informed that IDOT was in town regarding the expansion of Route 47
to four lanes .
A discussion was held concerning the Somonauk Street Stop and Go
Light Project.
Mayor Kittoe indicated he will be contacting IDOT regarding the
situation so that the City can make a determination of accepting a
bid on this project or not.
If the City does not accept one of the bids, they will need to look
at some alternative for this street corner while school is in
session such as a Policeman on duty.
The City was led to understand that IDOT did not have plans to
expand on Route 47 for at least five years . Due to this, the City
has pursued a permanent temporary street light for the corner of
Somonauk Street and Route 47 . The concern now is if the City
should pursue the project at a cost to City Taxpayers .
No action will be taken on this project until Mayor Kittoe can
discuss options with IDOT. This will be tabled until the Regular
Council Meeting to be held on Thursday, December 16, 1993 at 7 : 00
p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Alderman Johnson to adjourn the meeting at
7 : 19 p.m. Seconded by Alderman Prochaska. Moti• carried.
