Introductions
Approval of Minutes—There was discussion on what number constitutes a quorum. Bob Skidmore
noted that in the March minutes that it was stated that the Knights of Columbus were participating in
the June BBQ, but it is only the St. Patrick's Youth group. This will be corrected. Bob made a motion
to approve the minutes as corrected, Tim Evans seconded. Approved.
Announcements: Tim is now Superintendent of Recreation and will have some new duties to be
assigned.
There will be a Ribbon Cutting on Sat. May 14t" from 10 a.m. 4 p.m. along the river for the Canoe
Shoot.
Old Business
1. The movie at the Rec Center on went very well and had a good turnout. April at the Beecher
Center was "The Great Debate"with "Gran Torino" in June.
The cost for each movie is $75. If a fee is charged, 50% of the amount collected also has to be
paid for the movie. There was a question as to whether a `donation' could be collected. Patty
will check on this. Bob stated that if they would like to do a patriotic movie in July, the Knights
of Columbus will donate $100 to cover the cost.
2. During Older Americans Month in May, there will be a Volunteer Drive on May 5th open to
any community organization. The City had been planning a Volunteer Fair and there was a
question as to whether that was still on. Bette mentioned that the RSVP volunteer program in
Kane and McHenry is very active and they provide volunteers for over 100 entities in the area.
Tim will check on what needs the City has.
There are 30 vendors so far for the Health Fair at the Rec Center on May 13th. Bonnie asked if
there were limits on the water and tai chi classes. Tim stated probably 30.
There will also be the Luau at the Sugar Grove senior center.
Oswego Senior Center is holding an"In The Mood"Dinner and Dance on May 20th
The Knights of Columbus will be doing a Car Show at the Fair Grounds on May 28th
3. The Walking Club has been sidelined other than the bus trips. Patty will work with Amanda
on going to the Rec Center on a regular basis.
4. St. Patrick's Youth group Picnic for the seniors on Friday, June 10th is going well. They will
need a sign up list.
New Business
Tim Evans will talk to the City about the status of the Ad Hoc committee.
Senior Services signed a 5 year lease with the City last October.
Not much is new from the state on funding. There will be cuts, possibly in the Circuit Breaker
program.
Bette has the hearing with the County Board this week.
The Oswego senior tax did not pass, so they will be asking for more funding probably.
Additional Business—
Rita Murphy made a motion to adjourn. Bob Skidmore seconded. Accepted.
Next meeting—Monday, April 25th, 8:30 a.m. at the Beecher Center
