Patty Strahan reported that Tim Evans had contacted her and that they will have movies every other month. The first will be Julie and Julia on April 28`" at l p.m. CNN will do popcorn and the Rec Dept will provide the projector and big screen. Senior Services will pay the per movie license fee. 2. A listing of services provided was put together by the Police Dept. Bonnie Schradel noted that Health Dept. info was not included. Rose Spears volunteered to continue to find senior issues for the City newsletter. There was also a flyer of service organizations put together by the Human Resource Commission some time ago but Glory Spies noted it probably would need updating. Cecelia Sanders said that the southern Kane County TRIAD was going to hold a `fashion show' of uniformed Police, Fire, Nicor, Comcast, etc. employees so you can see who is coming to your door and what their identification looks like. 3. The walking program was tabled to next month. 4. The Registration at Beecher for Park and Rec programs was also tabled. 5. Bonnie Schradel started working on a Need Survey. It was suggested to put the request for personal information at the end, even though it is optional. Another suggestion was to add the number of times per week people attend the current programs, and to include other senior programs that the seniors attend, even if they are not in Yorkville. Mayor Burd suggested also including programs at the Library. Bonnie will continue to refine the program. It was also suggested to add the Kane County Cougars as an option for a trip. The distribution would be in the City newsletter and at Beecher. Another suggestion was to see if it could be put into the water bills. 6. Glory will add the current services onto the Info Page on the City Website, starting with the list provided today by the Police Dept. New Business There was some discussion of the renewal of the lease for Senior Services. The Mayor will be bringing it up to the City council and it is on the agenda for a committee to discuss the possibility of reducing the lease for the balance of the year due to the lack of funding being received by Senior Services. Currently the rent paid is about$1000. Page 2—Yorkville Senior Ad Hoc committee There was discussion on the meal program being provided by Senior Services. Cecelia mentioned that 7-11 is supposed to donate overstocked bakery items to charities. Panera and Jewel now give their overstocked items to the Food Pantry. Bob Skidmore asked how many seniors attend the meal program and was told the number averages about 50 each day. Rita Mu Thy stated that the Lunch and Learn program last Friday had 73 attendees. It is on the 31 Friday at 11 a.m. Additional Business: Rita Murphy brought up the transportation program and a problem that seems to be happening. There is a woman who lives in Oswego, but she is a senior and was told that she would only be able to have the service every other week. Rose mentioned that there was a survey done in Oswego with the seniors and they did not indicate that transportation was important. Cecelia also mentioned that she had heard a senior say that she believed that those who signed up to use the program would have to undergo a background check (which is just for those who are hired to drive). The Mayor will mention these concerns at the ribbon cutting today. Rose also mentioned that in the new budget review, there is a possibility that seniors will be asked to pay full cost for refuse and the program should be need based, not general. The Mayor explained that the water bills are not self-supporting. There is now a lack of new users tapping on, which was what previous projections of income had been based on. There was also discussion on the various cuts from the state and the problems with pensions being funded as well as unfunded mandates to schools and cities in Illinois. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m. Next meeting Monday, April 26th, 8:30 a.m, at Beecher Center
