Meadows Subdivision Dear Members of the Council: Menard, Inc. respectfully requests that the City Council act to accept the public improvements for Prairie Meadows Subdivision, subject to the spring 2010 installation of approximately twenty trees and completion of minor grading repair (which repair has a value of less than $1,000.00). To date, we have already completed the remaining punchlist items, including: • Conducting the required streetlight burn test, • Tightening mast arms on all public streetlights, • Increasing the size of the storm water pond outlet, • Removal of all dead plant material from the berms adjacent to Kennedy Road and McHugh Road, and • Removal of the thistle patch adjacent to Kennedy Road near the fire station. In addition, although not required by code, we installed stone sidewalks adjacent to the vacant lots in the subdivision for the use, enjoyment and safety of the residents. The Prairie Meadows Homeowners Association has indicated its acceptance of the landscaping by letter to City Engineer Joe Wywrot dated September 1, 2009 (copy attached). With the support of the residents, we believe that it is appropriate for the Council to grant this request. Acceptance of the public improvements would allow us to reduce the amount of the subdivision bond, at a substantial savings. In these challenging economic times, any reduction of our overhead costs would be a welcome relief. Once again, in light of our substantial work in the subdivision and the support of its residents, we would like the Council to accept the public improvements for Prairie Meadows. Thank you very much for your consideration of this request. It is also our understanding that the following improvements will be completed by Menards: (i) the removal and replacement of all dead parkway trees within the Subdivision, (ii) removal of all dead plant material from the berms adjacent to Kennedy Road and McHugh Road, (iii) removal of the thistle patch located adjacent to Kennedy Road near the Fire Station, and (iv) the installation of CA-6 sidewalks in the locations identified on the exhibit provided by your department. If you have any questions or concerns relating to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank You. Cordially, Ed Novak, President ._.
