LIbrary Minutes 2009 06-08-09 (District Committee) Minutes Yorkville Public Library District Fact Finding Committee Meeting June 8, 2009 6:00 P.M. Yorkville Public Library 902 Game Farm Road Yorkville, IL Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Board Members Present: Barb Johnson Jo Ann Gryder Judy Somerlot Others Present: Michelle Pfister, Library Director Business: 1.District Information The purpose of this meeting was to examine the budget considerations of changing to a Library District. The library’s budget was compared against those of the Owego and Plano Library districts. Barb Johnson reported that she was told by David Hoover of NIMEC that the library has its own energy account and that there would be no difference if the library were part of the city or if it were its own district in terms of their energy savings and participation in the co-op. This is good news since there will not be an added cost if the library switches to a district. Michelle Pfister discussed the cost of proving health and life insurance to employees, as well as property/casualty insurance and worker’s compensation insurance. Right now the City pays for the library’s property/casualty insurance and worker’s compensation. The committee determined that they should budget $150,000 for insurance. They will also need to budget for auditing services, salaries, landscaping and maintenance, capital improvements, etc. The committee will not be meeting in July, but will resume discussion on the budget for a district in August.
