RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE YORKVILLE POLICE
DEPARTMENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROTOCOL AND GENERAL ORDER
CONTAINING ADDITIONAL POLICY AND PROCEDURES
WHEREAS the City Council of the United City of Yorkville, the Mayor and the Chief of
Police have determined that Domestic Violence is a serious crime that because of the nature of the
crime, additional protocol and procedures are necessary to protect all parties involved, especially
children; and
~ WHEREAS the General Assembly of the State of Illinois in the Illinois Domestic Violence
Act of 1986 (725 ILCS 5/112A-27) requires every law enforcement agency to develop, adopt and
implement written policies regarding arrest procedures for domestic violence incidents; and
WHEREAS the Chief of Police has developed a Domestic Violence Protocol a copy of which
is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and a General Order containing additional policy and procedures
which is attached hereto as Exhibit`B"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the United City of Yorkville, the Mayor, and the Chief of
Police have determined it necessary and in the best interests of the City to approve and adopt the
Yorkville Police Department Domestic Violence Protocol and approve the additional General Order
to the Yorkville Police Department Policy and Procedure Manual;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE UNITED
`,. CITY OF YORKVILLE, upon motion duly made, seconded, and approved by a majority of those
Alderman voting, that the Yorkville Police Department's Domestic Violence Protocol and' the
General Order containing additional policy and procedures are hereby approved and adopted.
PASSED by the City Council of the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois this
