RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND ADOPT
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR COMMUNITY WORK EXPERIENCE POSITION
"CUSTODIAN"
WHEREAS, after careful consideration and planning, the Mayor, the City Council, and
the City Staff of THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE, in order to better serve the community,
deem it necessary to provide work experience for a Community Service Volunteer from the
Illinois Department of Public Aid so as to assist the workings of the newly adopted welfare reform
legislation passed by the State of Illinois, specifically the Illinois Department of Public Aid's Work
Experience Program.
WHEREAS, the Community Service Volunteer from the Illinois Department of Public
Aid's Work Experience Program will be working for the UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE, the
Mayor, the City Council, and the City Staff deem it necessary to promulgate an accurate job
description so as to ensure only properly qualified candidates are considered for such position.
That the job description for"Custodian" is attached hereto and made a part hereof as
Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE
THAT THE JOB DESCRIPTION FOR"CUSTODIAN" OF THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC AID'S COMMUNITY WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM IS HEREBY
APPROVED AND ADOPTED.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Custodian
Community Work Experience Position, Illinois Department of Public Aid (I.D.P.A.)
PURPOSE: The position is created to provide work experience for Community Service
Volunteer through the Illinois Department of Public Aid as defined by the newly adopted welfare
r6orm legislation to obtain lbod stamps through volunteer work.
QIIALiFICATTONS: A good character, no felony convictions, able to successfully complete a
background investigation, and successfully pass a drug screening test.
SKILLS REQUHU'l): The ability to lift 30 pounds,and the operation of electrical cleaning
equipment_ The ability to read and follow instructions in regards to the safe usage of cleaning
chemicals.
DIJTIFS: The tasks of the assigned worker will include items considered normal cleaning
functions, including, but not limited to the lallowing: vacuuming, dustin g, window cleaning,
bathroom sanitation, clearing of garbage cans, washing and waxing of tilt floors. and the
cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen. Additional responsibilities involving landscape
maintenance may be necessary. The worker may also assist other city departments as time
allows, such as; the Library, Public Works, Recreation Department.
SUPERVISOR: The custodian's supervisor will be the day shift patrol supervisor.
