Resolution 1996-28 STATE OF ILLINOIS )
)ss.
COUNTY OF KENDALL )
RESOLUTION NO.1996- O
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF A REFERENDUM ON THE
BALLOT FOR THE YORKVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville through its City Council and Mayor have
considered the current state of the Yorkville Public Library buildings and equipment; and
WHEREAS, after consideration of the current conditions of the Library, the City Council
and the Mayor have determined that it is in the City and Community's best interest to allow for
the placement of a Referendum on the November 1996 election ballot to provide funding for
maintenance repairs and alteration of library buildings and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Mayor of the United City of Yorkville believe that a
levy for an additional tax of .02% of the value of all taxable property in the City, as equalized
or assessed, to fund the maintenance, repair, and alteration of Library building and equipment,
is a fair and reasonable increase and will help the library meet the needs of the Community as
a whole.
NOW THEREFORE, the United City of Yorkville by and through its City Council, by
Motion duly made, seconded, and approved by a majority of those members voting hereby
authorize the Yorkville Public Library to place on the November 1996 ballot a referendum asking
for the authority to levy an additional .02% tax of the value of all of the Taxable property in the
City as equalized or assessed for the maintenance, repair, and alteration of the Library building
and equipment. The United City of the Village of Yorkville authorizes the Public Library so that
they may place this referendum upon the November ballot if they so choose.
