RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SIGN VARIANCE FOR SUPER 8 MOTEL
WHEREAS, the Super 8 Motel on Route 47 Yorkville, Illinois has been operating a
business near Routes 47 and 34 in the United City of Yorkville; and
WHEREAS, the Super 8 Motel currently has a sign erected on the subject real property
to the rear and the front of said Hotel; and
WHEREAS, the sign erected by Super 8 Motel is obstructed from visibility from traffic
on Route 47 by the existing business in the area because of lack of Route 47 Highway Frontage;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Yorkville after due consideration by its City Council and Mayor
have deemed it beneficial to the general economic conditions of the City and to attract business
to allow the Petitioner a variance to increase the height of this existing sign from 20 feet to 35
feet.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the United City of Yorkville, by and through its
City Council and Mayor that the Super 8 Motel is granted a variance to increase the height of
its sign from 20 feet to 35 feet or the height of the Hotel, whichever is less. That said variance
is to occur at the same location as the sign that currently exists, and no other variance with
respect to that sign is allowed.
