RESOLUTION NO. 1995- 3
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING IlfLEMENTATION OF KENDALL COUNTY SOLID
WASTE DISPOSAL PLAN
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council deem it to be in the best interest of the United
City of the Village of Yorkville to implement the Kendall County Solid Waste Disposal Plan
previously enacted by the Kendall County Board; and
WHEREAS, the United City of the Village of Yorkville deems it to be in the best interest
of the citizens of said City as well as citizens of Kendall County as a whole to seek alternative
methods of reducing solid wastes at the source rather than disposing of solid waste through
landfills; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Mayor deem it to be in the best interest of the citizens
of both the City and Kendall County to encourage recycling of waste materials; and
WHEREAS, the City has embarked and adopted an aggressive recycling program to
reduce its input into the solid waste disposal requirements of the County; and
WHEREAS, it appears that any need for a landfill for the immediate Kendall County area
is mitigated by the small percentage of use of a landfill facility that would be generated by the
citizens of Kendall County;
IT IS HEREBY ENACTED UPON MOTION DULY MADE, SECONDED, AND
APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THOSE ALDERMAN PRESENT THAT:
1. The City Council of the United City of the Village of Yorkville and its Mayor
hereby encourage Kendall County to implement the Solid Waste Disposal Plan enacted by the
Kendall County Board.
2. That the Mayor and City Council of the United City of the Village of Yorkville
encourage alternative methods of recycling, and disposal of solid wastes to be explored and
implemented as part of said plan in lieu of creating a Kendall County sited Landfill.
3. That the Kendall County Board consider under the Solid Waste Disposal Plan
recycling and alternative methods of disposal of waste materials as the primary alternative to the
siting of a landfill within Kendall County.
