COUNTY OF KENDALL
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
AMENDMENT OF THE CITY OF YORKVILLE
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS
IN THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE

WHEREAS, THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE is in need of modifications to the CITY OF
YORKVILLE Standard Specifications for Improvements; and
WHEREAS, THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE by and through it's Mayor and City
Council deem it to be in the best interest of the UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE to enact such a
modification:
NOW THEREFORE THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE acts as follows: to add language to
the CITY OF YORKVILLE Standard Specifications.
STORM SEWER SYSTEM
10. Required storm water storage will not be allowed in any of the roadway setback areas.
However, if engineering conditions necessitate, front yard or side yard storm water run off
storage as determined by the Yorkville City Engineer may be allowed, as follows:
A. Wet retention may be allowed if, and only if the following conditions are met.
1. Maximum slope 4:1 with variation to flatter slopes.
2. Minimum depth of 6' of water beyond required 2' safety ledge at 3' deep and a side
slope of 2:1 from the safety ledge to bottom. Desilting basing of a minimum depth
of 12' is required on the approved design at all incoming storm water.
3. Curvilinear shoreline, and exceptional landscaping plan to be approved by the City
Planner, including some decorative.stone/block treatment.
4. Aeration.
5. Curbed (6" high) barrier on all adjacent drives and parking lots adjacent to storm
water control basin.
6. Combined storage where possible with other properties.
B. In place of wet detention, dry detention in the front yards or side yard set back areas may
be allowed if the total maximum required storm water storage area is less than .50
AC-FT and the following conditions are met.
1. Maximum side slopes of 4:1 with variation to flatter slopes with minimum side
slopes of 2% except along the bottom over the required under drains which may be
constructed to a minimum slope of 1%.
2. Maximum storage depth of four(4) feet.
3. Curvilinear shoreline and exceptional landscaping plan to be approved by the City
Planner, including some decorative stone/block treatment.
4. Curbed (6" high barrier) on all adjacent drives and parking lots.
5. Combined storage where possible with other properties.
6. All grass areas should be maintained as a normal grassed yard area with grass
height conforming to current City ordinance.
If either item A or B as stated above are allowed due to special situations as indicated by the City
Engineer, then all other standards contained within the Standard Specifications shall also apply.
