ORDINANCE NO. 199
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1981-3 CREATING
A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR HANDICAPPED PARKING
AND GOVERNING ISSUANCE THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE
VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
WHEREAS, the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE has become aware
that the Secretary of State has begun the transition to a new design of handicapped parking
placecards in accordance with 625 ILCS 5/11-1301.;
WHEREAS. the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE deems it
necessary to bring their ordinance in compliance with the Secretary of State's policy and State
Law;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council and the Mayor of the UNITED CITY OF THE
VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE of Yorkville, upon motion duly made, and seconded, and approved,
hereby amend Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1981-3 and all previous amendments heretofore made,
as follows:
SECTION 3 - All parking permits for handicapped parking shall be issued in the
following form:
1. a. All placecards will be 3"x9 3/8" in size; and;
b. Permanent placecards for those who qualify for permanent
disability pursuant to State Statute shall have a blue background
with white lettering; and
C. Temporary placecards for those who qualify for temporary
disability pursuant to State Statute, shall have a red background
with white lettering; and;
d. All placecards shall be of hanging style from rearview mirrors, two
sided, have the International Symbol of Access at least 3 inches of
height and centered on the placecard, have an identification number
at least on inch in height, and have the identification of the issuing
authority; and
e. The placecard shall be hung on the rearview mirror. Dashboard or
visor placement is allowed when no rearview mirror is available.
2. All permanent disability permits shall be issued for a period of two years; all
temporary disability shall not be issued for a period in excess of 90 days. subject to renewal for
a like period upon showing of the continued disability.
Ordinance No. 1981-3 and its Amendments shall continue in full force except where
inconsistent with this Amendment. This Amendment shall be effective upon its passage.
