Ordinance 1990-17 ORDINANCE NO. 1990- 1�7 ORDINANCE REGULATING ISSUANCE AND COMPLETION OF BUILDING PERMITS The City Council and the Mayor of the United City of the Village of Yorkville, considering it to be in the best interest of the orderly growth and proper administration of the City Building Department to set certain standards for which a Building Permit will be issued, time of completion of building, and final inspections, does hereby amend and modify all previously existing Ordinances regulating the issuance, time of completion, and extension of building permits as follows: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: All construction within the corporate limits of Yorkville which requires a Yorkville Building Permit as specified in paragraph 111 .1 of the BOCA National Building Code, 1990, hereafter referred to as "BOCA Code", shall commence within six (6) months after issuance of the permit, in accordance with Section 112.2 of the BOCA Code. All work governed under each respective permit shall be completed and a final inspection made by the authorized building inspector in accordance with Section 115.3 of the BOCA Code within twelve (12) months after issuance of the permit. The City Building Inspector may, at his discretion, allow extension of the building permit for up to six (6) months if satisfactory progress is being made on the project, but in no case shall the building permit be active for more than eighteen (18) months after date of issuance. The permittee shall be notified in writing of any extension granted by the Building Inspector. If construction authorized under the building permit is not completed within twelve (12) months, or within an approved extension, but in no case greater than eighteen (18) months after date of issuance; and if a final inspection has not been made and the construction approved within this specified time, the building permit shall become null and void and shall be in no further force and effect. A stop work order shall be issued to the permittee and no construction shall continue on the premises until a new building permit is issued. The cost of the new building permit shall be the original cost, or One Thousand Dollars ($1 ,000.00) , whichever is less.
