AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE INCREASE
OF THE ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL UTILITY TAX
FROM 4% TO 50
BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE
OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Council of the United City of the Village
of Yorkville, upon the recommendation and request of the finance committee of
said city and upon a careful review of the estimated receipts and expenditure
of said city do hereby deem it in the best interest for the orderly administra-
tion of the city to increase the Illinois Municipal Utility Tax properly levied
pursuant to Chapted 24, Section 8-11-2 of Illinois Revised Statutes (1985) from
4% to 5%:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council and the Mayor of the United City of the
Village of Yorkville upon motion being duly made, seconded and approved hereby
increase the Illinois Municipal Utility Tax as allowed to be assessed under
Chapter 24, Section 8-11-2 of Illinois Revised Statutes from 4% to 5%.
All utilities, persons and businesses engaging in the business of distri-
buting, supplying, furnishing, or selling electricity for use or consumption
within the corporate limits of the municipality shall be effected by said
increase.
All utilities, persons and businesses engaging in the business of distri-
buting, supplying, furnishing, or selling gas for use or consumption within
the corporate limits of the municipality shall be effected by said increase.
All utilities, persons and businesses engaging in the business of
transmitting messages within the corporate limits of the municipality shall
be effected by said increase.
This ordinance shall become effective as of October 1, 1986 and the
proper certification by virtue of a certified copy of each ordinance being
furnished to each utility so effected by the City Clerk of the United City
of the Village of Yorkville.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, this Ordinance has been enacted this day
