ZZZ� AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. - /IZ:-�f AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE AND RE-DEFINING AND LIMITING TYPES OF UNDERGROUND WATER SERVICE AND DRAIN AND SEWER PIPING WHEREAS, the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE has heretofore adopted the B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code of 1975, 3rd Edition; and WHEREAS, the B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code of 1975, 3rd Edition, as adopted, permits certain materials to be used in underground water service and sewer service, which, after careful consideration by the Council and upon advice of the Building Superintendent of the said City, are found to be inferior; and WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable by the City Council that the B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code of 1975, 3rd Edition, should be amended to delete such materials. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE that the B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code of 1975, 3rd Edition, as adopted heretofore, be and the same is hereby amended as follows : (1) Paragraph P-405.1. 2 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Water service pipe: Water service pipe shall be brass pipe, copper pipe, copper tube, cast-iron water pipe, open-hearth iron pipe, ductile iron pipe or lead pipe. Copper tube, when used underground, shall have a weight not less than copper water tube Type K. All threaded ferrous pipe and fittings shall �"�/�7 -2- be galvanized or cement lined. When used underground in corrosive fill or soil, the piping material and/or protective coating shall be approved by the administrative authority. " (2) Paragraph P-405 . 1 . 3 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Water distribution pipe: The water distribution system shall be brass or copper pipe, copper tube, galvanized open-hearth iron pipe, galvanized steel pipe, lead pipe, CPVC hot and cold water plastic pipe or plastic cold water pipe. Copper tube shall have a weight of not less than copper water tube Type L. All plastic pipe shall be marked with the appropriate identification of a quality control agency recognized in duly authenticated reports from Building Officials and Code Administrators International. " (3) Paragraph P-405 . 2 . 2 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Underground building drains (sanitary and storm) : All underground building drains shall be of cast iron not less than service weight, copper tube having a weight of not less than that of copper water tube Type L, hard temper. The administrative authority may permit the use of other approved material. Where threaded joints are used underground, they shall be coal tar coated and wrapped when installed or otherwise protected in an approved manner. " (4) Paragraph P-405. 2 . 3 is hereby amended to read as follows : "Building sewer 1 . In a trench separate from water service: If the building sewer is installed in a trench separate from the water service, the sewer pipe shall be of cast iron, concrete, vitrified clay tile, copper tube of a weight not less than that of copper water tube Type L, hard temper. Joints shall be watertight and rootproof. 2 . In trench with water service: If the building sewer is installed in the same trench -3- as the water service, the sewer pipe material shall be of cast iron, copper tube of a weight not less than that of copper water tube Type L, hard temper, with approved joints and shall be such as to remain watertight and rootproof. The sewer shall be tested with a ten (10) foot head of water or equivalent and accepted if found to be tight. The conditions of Section P-1602 . 2 . 1 shall also be met. " That in all other respects, the B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code of 1975, 3rd Edition, is hereby readopted as if fully set forth herein.
