Ordinance 1976-35 FHD:GKH ORDINANCE NO. _ AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, PROVIDING FOR STOP AND YIELD INTERSECTIONS, FOR THE ERECTION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS , AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, Kendall County, Illinois as follows : SECTION l : The following intersections are hereby declared to constitute "stop" intersections within the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE: Countryside Parkway and Center Parkway, with Countryside Parkway stopping for Center Parkway (2-way stop) Countryside Parkway and West Kendall Drive, with Countryside Parkway stopping for West Kendall Drive Blackberry Lane and West Kendall Drive, with Blackberry Lane stopping for West Kendall Drive Blackberry Lane and Center Parkway, with Blackberry Lane stopping for Center Parkway Strawberry Lane and West Kendall Drive, with Strawberry Lane stopping for West Kendall Drive Strawberry Lane and Center Parkway, with Strawberry Lane stopping for Center Parkway -2- Center Parkway and Kendall Drive, with Center Parkway stopping for Kendall Drive Center Parkway and U. S. Route 34 , with Center Parkway stopping for U. S. Route 34 Kendall Drive and Center Parkway, with Kendall Drive stopping for Center Parkway (2-way stop) East Kendall Drive and Countryside Parkway, with East Kendall Drive stopping for Countryside Parkway (2-way stop) Countryside Parkway and Illinois Route 47, with Countryside Parkway stopping for Illinois Route 47 SECTION 2 : The following intersections are hereby declared to constitute "yield" intersections within the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE: Palmer Court and Countryside Parkway, with Palmer Court yielding for Countryside Parkway Blackberry Lane cul-de-sac and Center Parkway, with Blackberry Lane yielding for Center Parkway Conover Court and Strawberry Lane, with Conover Court yielding for Strawberry Lane (2-way yield) Naden Court and Center Parkway, with Naden Court yielding for Center Parkway Anderson Court and West Kendall Drive, with Anderson Court yielding for West Kendall Drive Dickson Court and East Kendall Drive, with Dickson Court yielding for East Kendall Drive (2-way yield) Mulhern Court and East Kendall Drive, with Mulhern Court yielding for East Kendall Drive -3- SECTION 3 : Every operator of a vehicle or other conveyance traveling upon any street and approaching a "stop" intersection, as above indicated, shall bring such vehicle or conveyance to a full stop at the place where such street meets the prolongation of the nearest property line of the through street at the inter- section, unless said intersecting street is determined to be a "yield" street, in which case every operator shall reduce the speed of his vehicle to not more than 20 m.p.h. and shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles which have entered the intersecting street, either from the right or left, or which are approaching so closely on said intersecting street as to constitute an immediate hazard, but said driver having so yielded may proceed at such time as a safe interval occurs, subject, however, to the direction of any traffic control sign or signal or any police officer at such "stop" or "yield" intersection. The operator of any vehicle who has come to a full stop as required above or who has passed a yield sign, upon entering the through street, as well as operators of vehicles on such through street, shall be subject to the usual right-of-way rule prescribed by law and applicable to vehicles at intersections. OLf'MrlWl n - -4- of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than ONE ($1. 00) DOLLAR nor more than ONE HUNDRED ($100. 00) DOLLARS for each offense. SECTION 5 : The Director of Public Properties of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE is directed, from the effective date of this Ordinance, to erect stop signs at all "Stop" intersections as declared herein and yield signs at all "Yield" intersections as declared in this Ordinance. SECTION 6 : This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law. SECTION 7: The effective provisions of ordinances passed here- tofore and not inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby expressly ratified and all provisions inconsistent herewith are expressly repealed. oz PASSED this 'day of , 1976 . , City CleWk SIGNED and APPROVED this day of 1976 . _ , ��n
