Ordinance 1975-21 FHD:GKH ' ORDINANCE NO. 21 , AN ORDINANCE DECLARING VAN EMMON STREET, FROM THE INTER- SECTION OF HEUSTIS STREET TO THE CITY LIMITS, A THROUGH STREET. BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, Kendall County, Illinois as follows: SECTION 1: That Van Emmon Street, from the east side of the intersection of Van Emmon Street and Heustis Street within the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE and extending easterly to the eastern corporate limits of the said City, is hereby declared to be a through street, and all streets intersecting Van Emmon Street east of the intersection of Van Emmon Street with Heustis Street to the eastern corporate limits of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE shall yield to traffic upon Van Emmon Street. SE TION 2 : That every operator of a vehicle or other conveyance traveling upon any street as above indicated yielding at the intersection with said street and Van Emmon Street shall, -2- in every case, reduce the speed of his vehicle to not more than 20 m.p.h. and shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles which have entered the intersecting street, either from the right or left, or which are approaching so closely on said intersecting street as to constitute an immediate hazard, but said driver, having so yielded, may proceed at such time as a safe interval occurs, subject, however, to the direction of any traffic control sign or signal or any police officer at such "yield" intersection. The operator of any vehicle who has yielded as above required and upon passing the yield sign upon the through street, as well as operators of vehicles on such through street, shall be subject to the usual right-of-way rule prescribed by law and applicable to vehicles at intersections. SECTION 3: The Police Department of the UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE is hereby directed to enforce the pro- visions of this Ordinance, and any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than ONE ($1. 00) DOLLAR nor more than ONE HUNDRED ($100. 00) DOLLARS for each offense. SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect -3- from and after its passage and publication as provided by law. SECTION 5: The effective provisions of ordinances passed heretofore and not inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby expressly ratified and all provisions inconsistent herewith are expressly repealed.
