City Council Minutes 1938 04-04-38 April 4,1938 Adlk 'I The regular monthly meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Yorkville was held in the Village Hall on April 4,1938 and called to order by President Devereaux at 7:45 P.M. Finding present on roll call were President Devereaux, Trustees Barkley,Munson,Loomis ,Armbruster and Clerk Ament. Absent Trustees Schumacher and Schulter. Minutes of the regular meeting held 11arch 7,1938 were read and so ordered approved.. Reports of the Clerk and Treasurer on the state of the General Fund, the Water Fund, the Police Fund and the Motor Fuel Tax Fund were: read. Following these the reports of the Chief of Police and the Police Magistrate were read. The reports of Treasurer,Clerk, Chief of Police and Police Magistrate were unanimously approved. Bills were then read as follovis and on motion by Trustee Armbruster seconded by Trustee Loomis the bills be referred to the Finance Committee and be paid if found to be correct and if money was available. Roll Call : Ayes, Barkley,llunson,Loomis,Armbruster Nays. Noe Carried and so ordered. Co Toll # 4 .30 April 4,1938 The clerk read the request and authorization of a maJorityl' of the owners of the property on Van Emmon Street , formerly known as the 'Yorkville Ball Park' , to transefer the said property to the Village of Yorkville to be used for park, Playground or recreational purposes only. The Village then received a quit claim deed from Jacob Armbruster, Trustee of the said property, the consideration to be that the ground be used for park, playground or recreational purposes only ,unless otherwise authorized,and to assume and pay all delinquent taxes and assessments and accept such title as may be conveyed to it by a quit claim deed. It was moved by Trustee Barkley seconded by Trustee Munson that the deed conveying to the Village of Yorkville the two acre park be accepted, subject to all conditions therein contained and that the clerk record said deed, together with all other instruments showing title. Roll Call. Ayes : Barkley,11unson,Loomis, Armbruster Nays : None. Carried and so ordered. The following resolution was then read:- Be it resolved that in appreciation of the gift by those now living of their interest in the park this day conveyed to the Village of Yorkville and in memory of those dead whose interests have been this day conveyed, the said park be named:-:. YORKVILLE P.RF 10RIAL PARK. Be it further resolved that thit-resolution be spread at length upon the records og the Village of Yorkville and a copy duly certified be sent the Trustee making conveyance to this Village,and that a suitable plaque be erected in the Village Hall. It was moved by Trustee Barkley and seconded by Trustee Munson that the foregoAng resolution be adopted, Roll Call: Ayes- Barkley,naunson,Loomis, Armbruster. Nays- None. Carried and so ordered. Attorney Clark reported that the Chicago, Burlington,& Quincy Railroad had withdrawn their petition for the discontinuance of two trains on the Streator branch of their railroad. April 4, 1939 Mr. Justus Nading was present at the meeting and offered to the Village of Yorkville the narrow strip pf land between the street and the side walk on the south side of VanEmmon Street in front of his property if the Village would excavate the dirt and build a curbing and gutter along the north edge of the brick sidewalk there so as to widen the street. Also he requested that the sewer ditch through his property be leveled off. On motion by Trustee Armbruster seconded by Trustee Munson that Trustee Loomis be empowered to employ sufficient number of men to level the sewer ditch on the Nading property. Roll Call: Ayes; Barkley,Plunson,Loomis, Armbruster. Nays; None. Carried and so ordered. The matter of the curbing and gutter,on the south side of VanEmmon street in front of the Nading property,was referred to the Street and Alley Comittee for investigation.
