City Council Minutes 1938 05-02-38 May 2, 1938
The regular monthly meeting of the President and Board of
! Trustees of the Village of Yorkville was held in the Village
Hall on May 2, 1938 and called to order by President Devereaux
at 7:45 P.M.
Finding present on roll call were President Devereaux,
Trustees T.-lunson,BarkleylLoomis,Armbruster,Schumacher,Schulter
and Clerk Ament . Absent 2?one.
The minutes of the regular meeting held April 4, 1938 were
read and so ordered approved.
The reportsof the clerk on the state of the General Fund,
the Water Fund, The Police fund and the 1.1otor Fuel Tax Fund
were read Following these the reports of the Chief of Police
and Police Magistrate were read.
The reports of the C1erk, Chief of Police and Police
"a.gistrate were unanimously. Approved.
The annual report of the Village Treasurer was then received
and on motion by Trustee Schumacher seconded by Trustee Armbruster
the report be referred to the Finance Committee and ff found
correct was ordered to be published in a condensed form.
Roll Call : Ayes-Punson,Barkley,,.Loomis,Armbruster,Schumacher
Schulter.
Nays- None . Carried and so ordered.
A communication was received from F.L.Wright claiming to
represent the Business ?:ens Organization of Yorkville concerning '
permission to hold a carvival on the village parking lot.
It was Moved by Trustee Schulter seconded by Trustee Armbruster
that permission be granted the business men' s organization to
hold a carnival on the -oarking lot for a period of three days
and not over a. week, the contract subject to the approval of
the Village Attorney.
It was moved by Trustee Loomis seconded by Trustee Munson
the motion concerning the carnival on the parking lot be
am&nded to the effect that upon investigation it was found that
the request was from the regular and bonifide business men' s
organization the request be granted.
Amen(I ent carried and so ordered.

k Trustee P. unson reported in the matter of the strip of
land in front of the P?ading property on VanEmmon Street that
the street there was sunposed to be 60 feet wide and that upon
measuring; it it «ra.s found that t}_.e distance between the side-
walk on-the north side of':VanEmmon. Str.eet and the sidewalk on
the south side of VanEmmon Street was less than 60 feet so that
the Village must own the strip of land between the road and
sidewalk on the south side of the street.
Trustee T.Tunson suggested that the dirt in the strip of
land along the south side of VanEmmon street between the road
and sidewalk be removed to within 8 inches of the sidewalk and
sloped off to aid drainage and be graveled.
He further suggested t'fl�at on the north side of VanEmmon
street that the sidewalk between Bridge street and Heustis street
be replaced and the new walk be raised about 4 inches .
Attorney Clark mentioned the possibility of getting
government aid in financing of this project.
On Motion by Trustee Schulter seconded by Trustee Loomis
that the Street and Alley Committee get the necessary information
concerning the building of a new side walk on the North side
of VanEmmon street between Bridge and Heustis streets including
a survey and method of financing and make a report at the next

Hills were then read as follows and on motion by Trustee
Schumacher seconded by Trustee Loomis the bills be referred to
the Finance Committee and be naid if found to be correct and if
funds were available.
