The regular monthly meeting of the Presiden$ and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Yorkville was held in the Village
,Hall of said Village on August 7, 1939 and called to order by
'President Devereaux at 9:00 P.M.
Finding present on roll call were President Devereaux,Trustees
Schumacher,Schulter,Loomis,lvlunson,r;tarshall and Clerk Ament
Absent ;Trustee Barkley
Minutes of the regular meeting held. July 3, 1939 were read
and so ordered approved.
The regular monthly reports of the Clerk,Chief of Police and
Police 11agistrate were read and so ordered approved.
The Board requested that the Clerk write a letter of thanks
to Mr. C .M.Schmidt and Tr. Covell Sleezer for their services
in hauling gravel onto the village streets .
On motion by Trustee Schulter seconded- by Trustee Marshall
the President and Clerk be authorized to prepare and dispose
of an anticipation, warrant in the amount of X500.00 to be
anticipated out of unpaid 1938 taxes .

Bills were then read as follows and on motion by Trustee
11arshall sebonded by Trustee Schumacher the bills be referred
to the Finance Committee and be paid if found to be correct.

On motion by Trustee Schumacher seconded by Trustee Loomis h
' the matter of the purchase of a street sander be referred to the
Street and Alley Committee with power to act .

Nays; None. Carried and so ordered.
Trustee Schumacher stated that the Yorkville Lions Club
requested permission to erect a Dutch Oven at Yorkville Memorial
Patik and the Board,hearing no objection/granted the request.
On motion by Trustee Loomis seconded by Trustee Marshall the
resignation of Martin Behrens as Superintendent of the Streets
be accepted as of July 13,1939•
Carried and so ordered.
On motion by Trustee Marshall seconded by Trustee Schulter
the office of Superintendent of Streets be abolished and the
offices of Superintendent of Streets and Superintendent of
Waterworks be combined.
Carried and so ordered.
On motion by Trustee Schumacher seconded by Trustee Munson
Chief of Police Martyn be in charge of the key to the Village
Dump. Carried and so ordered.
President Devereaux then appointed James Barkley Superintendent
of Streets and Waterworks .
On motion by Trustee Schumacher seconded by Trustee Schulter
the appointment of James Barkley as Superintendent of Streets
and Waterworks by President Devereaux, be confirmed by the
Board.

Nays; None . Carried and so ordered.
On motion by Trustee Schumacher seconded by Trustee Marshall
that the wages of James Barkley as Superintendent of Streets
and Waterworks be paid $67.50 per month from the water fund
and $32.50 per month from the general fund, said wages to start
as of July 13,1939•

Nays; None . Carried and so ordered.
On motion by Trustee Loomis seconded by Trustee Marshall the
Chief of Police be granted a vacation from August 17,1939 to
August 24,1939. Carried and so ordered
On motion the meeting was adjourned.
