City Council Minutes 1942 01-05-42 January 5, 1942 Yorkville, Illinois The regular monthly meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Yorkville, Illinois was held in the i '; Village Hall of said Village on January 5, 1942 and was called ' to order by President Devereaux at 8:00 P.M. li Finding present on roll call were President Devereaux, Trustees Loomis,Barkley,Iia.rshall,Price and Clerk Ament. Absent Trustees Munson and Schulter. Minutes of the regular meeting held December 1, 1941 and of the special meeting held December 15, 1941 were read and so ordered aonroved. The regular monthly reports of the C1erk,Trea.surer, Chief of Police and Police Magistrate were read and. so ordered approved . Carried and so ordered. �I Yorkville, Illinois January 5, 19+2 A communication was read from Frank Pennuto,Asking eoilie :change , of hours at his pool room and the matter was tabled for action fiat the next meeting. I i A communication from the Miller Engineering Service was read {` and. ordered nlaced on file . it A Communication from the Illinois Municipal League regarding the estimated money needed annually by downstate municipalities for _purposes of defense and victory, was read and offered filed. President Devereaux stated that he had been called to the office .of the highway engineer at Elgin to report on the amount proposed street construction and repairs , the amount of motor fuel tax funds available, the monthly allotment, and that he was told that the Village might go ahead and black top east Van Emmon street as had been proposed. President Devereaux futher stated that he and Chief of Police ,11artyn had attended Governer Green' s defense meeting at Spring- field . He stated that there had been no definite plans proposed and few suggestions offered other thaft that municipalities could not expect much aid from the State r„ilitia, but --ould have to depend on their own police forces. in cases od trouble. The matter of the protection of the fire truck and. the village ' truck and the pump house during the emerg&mcy.was brought up and President Devereaux appointed Trustees Marshall and Price ; to investigate ways and means of protecting the fire truck, the village truck and the pump house and report at the next meeting. President Devereaux reported that he had attended the meeting on tire rationing held in Chicago where the tire rationing set i! up had been explained. The plan being to make a one year supply lof raw rubber last for four years, therefore the restrictions on ;` tire sales . it The final report of collections of delinquent water rent Iby Chief of Polce Ma.rtyn was read the Board commended Chief 11artyn for his good ,job of collecting and directed the report 11 be placed on file . I !, The matter of obtaining trailer for use in garbage collection; lwas brought up and President Devereaux appointed Superintendent I Barkley to look into the matter of obtaining a chasis to convert ; into a trailer. �I On motion the meeting was adjourned.
