City Council Minutes 1942 09-14-42 ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING j� An adjourned regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Yorkville was held in the Village ` Hall on September 14, 1942 , pursuant to an adjournment to such time and place. In the absence of the President of the Board and the Village Clerk, Trustee Loomis called the roll, and a quorum being present , Trustee Barkley moved that Trustee Loomis act as President at this meeting, such motion was seconded by Trustee 1arshall and carried, viz: Ayes, Barkley, Schulter, Marshall and Loomis; on motion made by Trustee Barkley and seconded by Trustee r.arshall and unanimously carried and approved by the acting President, R. H. Clark was appointed Clerk pro tempore for this meeting. The Clerk pro tem. again called the roll and Trustees Barkley, Schulter, Marshall and Loomis (acting as President pro tempore) were present . Absent , President Devereaux, Trustees Munson and Price. The plans and estimate for the repair and improvement of the Fox Road were presented for consideration, and upon motion by Trustee Barkley, seconded by Trustee Schulter and unanimously carried (all trustees present voting aye on a roll call) the same were approved and advertisement for bids ordered as required by law, said vote being as follows: Ayes, Schulter, Barkley, Loomis and Marshall. Nays, none. Trustee M-a.rshall presented the written resignation of Chief of Police Franklin 11artyn, which by unanimous vote, upon motion of Trustee Barkley, seconded by Trustee Schulter , was ordered filed and accepted . The Village Board thereupon extended to the retiring Chief of Police a vote of thanks in consideration of faithful service during his tenure of that position. The matter of policing the crossing at Bridge Street and C. B. & Q. Railway, on motion made by Trustee Bar:�ley, seconded by Trustee Schulter, was referred to the Police Com- mittee with full power to make arrangements for watchman during school hours, when scheduled trains were due to pass such crossing, by the following vote on roll call: Ayes, Barkley, Schulter, Loomis and Marshall. Nays , None. On motion made by Trustee Schulter, seconded by Barkley, it was ordered that shingles for the cupola on the Village Hall be purchased and applied, by the following vote on roll call: Ayes, Barkley, Schulter, Loomis and Marshall . Nays, none. On motion by Trustee Schulter, seconded by Trustee Barkley, and unanimously carried, the matter of tree removal i; at Salisbury residence was referred to the Street and Alley Committee, with power to give permission for removal if found advisable. �"'• The '',Tater Committee to whom the claim of Rudolph Rabe had been referred, made a partial report to the effect that all; liability on the part of the Village for any damage should be it denied and disclaimed, but recommended that a new water iiain ll be placed on the street in front of the Rabe residence as soon as materials were available. On motion by Trustee Schulter, seconded by Trustee Barkley, said report was approved and the Committee directed to carry out the recDmraendation by the following vote on roll call: Ayes, Schulter, Barkley, Loomis and 11arshall. Nays, none. One of the Trustees retiring and there being no further business which could properly come before the Board , the meet- ing was adjourned.
