City Council Minutes 1917 04-24-17 .yorkville,Kendall County,Illisois. April,24th,1917. The Board met pursuant to adjournment but owing to the absence of the retiring President of the Board and the absease of a sufficient number of the aamee board to sompose a quorum and the newly eleeted President and Trustees being pres6at,they took the oath of offise administered by the -Clerk and proseedsd with business. Predident Elect George D.Ament took the shair and called the me,:ting to order at 8 o'Gloek P.M; The roll Gall was taken with the following result, Present, President, George D.AMent; Trustees, A.C.Merkel,A.H.Van Emox,George Ohs* and M.N.Deeoher. Absent T. G.Wolienweber and F.E.Ament. The Board first canvassed the result of the annual election held in the Hose House, Apri1,17th01817 whiah was as follows: For President of the Board of Trustees, George D.Ament, 29 Votes, For Member of the Board of Trust.eGo Frank E.Ament, 34 Votes, A. C.Merkel, 21 Votes A.Vii.Van Emon 17 Votes J.U. Hubbard 6 Votes S.O.Hagen 1 Vote E.T. Smith 2 Votes L.Rafenriehter, 1 Vote Thos. Atherton 3 Votes J. Nading, 1 Vote For Polioe Magistrate, S.O.Hagen, 3 Votes B.A.Cotton 24 Votes. - Tke minutes of the previnus regular and special meetings were read and approved as read. The clerk read a sommunioatioa from Martka C.Hopkins notifing the board of tke expiration of a certain lease or contract concerning a portion of her farm from wkiok Water had been or was being obtained. On a motion by M.N. fetcher seconded by A.C.Merkel tke letter was refered to Us on water committee for action. Trustee Beecher of the StDeet and Alley committee reported tkatupon investigation ke found that the Village could obtain gravel in car load lots from the Conkey gravel bet at $1.05 per yard on cars. in Yorkville, Furtker that crashed rock could be obtain .from Doelee & .Skepardson Of Naperville, Il'inois, at $1.65 per yard on track at Yorkville, It was moved by Trustee Merkel and seconded by Trustee Beecher that the Stteet and Alley committee obtala a car load of gravel from the Conkey Gravel bed for use in th Village. The motion was carried all members present affirming the motion. Village Treasurer Knudson was present and submitte his annual repott to tke board,the same was accepted and" . approved on a motion By trustee Okee,seconded by Trustee . Beecher and unaminously car -ied. The following bills were thew read; S.Udetaad, Aurora, Repairing pump, 5.40 Jacob Armbruster, ]dill to April,34th,1917 117. 38 A. S.Jessup, Teaming, Bill to date, 64 hr. A.C.Merkel, Dill to April,24th,1917, $31.35 A.C.Merkel, Water Works bill to April,24th, $ 3.30 On a motion by Trustee Ohse seconded by Trustee Merkel U bills were referred to the finance committee with the iustrustios that if they were found correct orders were to be draw& for payment of same. The motion car-rigid all members present affirming t the motion. Mr. Ed Larson was present and made a vetbal application for a dement walk to be placed upon and along his prpperty abisutting state Street,in the Village of Yorkville, The petitio ` was granted on a motion by Trustee Beeoher seconded by Trustee Merkel and unaminously carried. Mr B.F.Herring was present and addressed the Chair and members of the baodd and complained of the b#Ar.eonditiox of the cement walk in ffont of Mrs Harrington's property in Van Emon Street,whieh was laid by tke Rausok Coal Co. ,of A&rora. The. matter was discussed in a generhl way but no action tak e&. On a motion by Trustee Osse,sesonded by Trustee Van Emon' and unaminously carried, Mr. O.C.Knudsoa was appointed Village Treasurer for the ensuing year. On a motion by Trustee Ohse, sesonded by Trustee Van Emon,and af-jUrmed by all members of the board present, John A.feeoher was appointed Street Commissioner and Village Marshall for the ensuing year,at a salary of $55.00 per month. At this time the President of the Board announced th appointment of the members of the respective eommittees,whish were as follows, STRETT AND ALLEY COMMITTEE, M.N.Beecher,F.E.Ament, W.G.Wollenweber, Water and Power, W.G.Wollenweber,George Ohee, A.C.Merkel, ELECTRIC LIGiTi Fire and Police, George Ohae, A.H.Van Emon, M.N.Neecher, BOARD OF HEALTH, A.H.VAN EMON, F.E.Ament, A.
