City Council Minutes 1980 11-20-80 (65)
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE
VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE , KENDALL COUNTY , ILLINOIS , HELD AT CITY HALL ON
NOVEMBER 20 , 1980 .
In the absence of Mayor Thanepohn and Clerk Erickson , Treasurer Merkel
called the meeting to order at 8 :00 P .M. and led the Council in the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Treasurer Merkel called roll as follows ;
Ward 1 - Wolff Ward 2 - Harker Ward 3 - Simmons
Beach Pierce
Alderman Hanback was absent from Ward 2 . A quorum was established.
Alderwoman Pierce moved to nominate Alderman Simmons as Mayor Pro-tem,
seconded by Alderman Wolff . Motion carried 5-0 .
The reading of the minutes of the November 6 , 1980 meeting was waived .
Alderman Harker moved to approve the minutes as presented, seconded
by Alderwoman Pierce . Motion carried 4-0 .
ATTORNEY ' S REPORT - Attorney Dickson reported the decision was in
on the Jennings lawsuit with the responsibility being up to the developer .
COMMITTEE REPORTS
BUILDING & ZONING - Mayor Pro-tem Simmons called a meeting for the
Council as a whole on December 4 , 1980 at 8 :00 P .M. at the Water
Tower , for the purpose of discussing Westphal ' s financing through
industrial revenue bonds .
EMERGENCY SERVICES & DISASTER - Tom Usry reported on- the
November 18 , 1980 meeting with Braniff Electronics was contacted
regarding the emergency siren problems . The cost to repair the
emergency siren was estimated to be $1200-1300 . C&.R Communications
of Oswego were also contacted for an estimate and it is their
opinion that the radio receiver can possibly be repaired along with
a serge protector being installed at a cost of approximately $100-
$200 if this is the problem . Alderman Harker moved to refer the
matter of who is to pay for the repairs to a committee meeting for
discussion on December 4 , 1980 at 7 : 30 P .M. , seconded by Alderman
Wolff . Motion carried 4-0 .
POLICE - Alderman Beach commended Officer Martin on the truck arrest .
Chief Randall wrote a letter to the State Police thanking them for
their assistance in the matter .
PUBLIC PROPERTY & BUILDINGS - Alderman Harker moved to approve the
request of the Girl/Scouts to use the City Hall on Mondays from
approximately 3-5 P .M. for their weekly meetings , seconded by
Alderman Beach . Motion carried . A key to the City Hall will be
given to Mary Hoover .
STREETS & ALLEYS - Alderman Beach reported that he was still hoping
to get the streets repaired where the water line was put in on
Morgan & Van Emmon and the work on Mill St .
TREES & PARKS - Alderwoman Pierce called a meeting for November 25 ,
1980 at 7 : 30 P .M . at the Water Tower regarding Woodworth ' s swimming
pool .
YBS BOARD - Alderman Harker reported the Sanitary Board would like
to see some action taken regarding the infiltration problems .
Alderman Harker moved to adjourn the meeting at 8 : 30 P .M. , seconded
by Alderman Wolff . Motion carried 4-0 .
