MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MAY 14, 1970
AT 8:00 P.M.
Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll.
Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present:
1st - ward - Thomas
2nd - ward - Florence, Thanepohn
3rd - ward - Mitchell, McHugh
The Clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting hold on April 9,
1970• Said minutes were approved as read.
The Clerk then read the bills as follows:
Illinois Bell Telephone, phone service 9.00
Yorkville Hardware, operating supplies 15.40
Farmers State Bank, payment #2, police car 208.57
Zeiter's Citgo, gas police car 256.01
Bob's Standard, police car 15.00

The bills were refered to the finance committise to be paid if found correct.
James Price then gave the monthly report of the water department and streets
and alleys. Said report was approwyd as read.

Chief Prickett then gave the report on the Rlice Dept. Said report approved as
read. A discussion followed on stray dogs. Chief Prickett was instructed to
meet with Attorney Ohse for classification on ordinance and with the dog
catcher, Mrs. Weiss.
Mrs. Mary Thomas, librarian gave the annual report on the library. Said report
approved.
Alderman Thomas gave the financial report on the library with a proposed budget
of $8500.00. A discussion following. Alderman Thomas seconded by Alderman
Mitchell to accept. Upon roll the following Aldermen voted aye: Thomas,
Florence, Thanepohn, Mitchell and McHugh.
Mrs. Grace Fisher then gave a report on the library building fund, There was
a balance of $6000.00 in said fund.
Alderman Florence then reported on sidewalk repairs on Hydraulic Street. The
committee was impowered to act on said repairs.
Alderman Thanepohn then reported on the Water run off at the Rudolph Rabe house
on West Madison Street.. A discussion followed. Aidermah /thanepohn moved
that City should install curbing there and include the Kahle house on Bast
Orange Street also; this was seconded by Alderman Florence. Upon roll being
taken the following alderman voted aye: Thomas, Florence, Thanepohn, Mitchell
and McHugh.
A discussion was had on the Cosy Cafe. Alderman Florence was to check on the
matter.
A petition was presented from home owners on East Main Street to reduce the
speed limit from 30 M.P.H. to 20 M.P.A. A general discussion followed. Mayor
Coleman stated the city couldtl't lower the speed limits without a traffic
court and all streets would have to have same speed limits. James Price was
instructed to post warning signs and caution sipwa
Mr. Wilter Boch requested a variance on the house under construction at Washing-
ton and Mill Street. A discussion following. Alderman Thanepohn seconded by
Alderman Mitchell to accept said variance. Upon roll all aldermen voted aye,
Thomas, Florence, Thanepohn, Mitchell and McHugh.
Mr. Gerry Herman then reported on the proposed ine&&tdr for the Fars Bureau.
A discussion followed.
The Planning Cpmmission report was read, approved and filed.
Mayor Coleman then re-appointed all City Employees at the same salary, Vacation,
and Sick Leave for the coming year. Alderman Thomas seconded by Alderman
Florence. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye; Thomas,
Florence, Thanepohn, Mitchell and McHugh.
No other business the meeting was adjourned.
