MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON OCTOBER 9,
194A AT 8:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll.
Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present:
1st ward - Thomas, Follmer
2nd ward - Florence, Thaneophn
3rd ward - McHugh, Mitchell
The clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting held on September
11, 1969. Said minutes were approved as read.
The Clerk then read the bills as follows:

The bills were refered to the finance committiee to be paid if found correct.
Chief Winfred Prickett then read the monthly report of the police department
which was approved as read.
James Price then gave the report on the water department which was approved as
read the the streets and alleys which was approved as read.

Attorney Ohse then read a letter from the Department of Revenue confirming the Sales
Tax Ordinance and the Service Occupation Tax. The clerk was instructed to file
same.
Mayor Coleman then read a letter from the Department of Conservation concerning
sanitary facilities at Palmer Dam. No action was to be taken by the Department
of Conservation.
Attorney Ohse then read an ordinance increasing the interest from 6`,8 to 7% on
the $185,000.00 Water Revenue Bond Issue. A discussion followed. Alderman
Thomas seconded by Alderman Follmer to accept said ordinance. Upon roll being
taken the following aldermen voted aye: Thomas, Follmer, Florence, Thanepohn,
McHugh and Mitchell. Nayes none.
Mayor Coleman then read a letter from the United States Fidelity and Guaranty
Insurance Company that sidewalk reapirs should be made on the south side of
Hydraulic Street from Bridge Street to Main Street. He reported that the
Illinois Bell Telephone Company would pay half cost along their frontage. Mr. C.
Durston Ohse would not commit himself.
Bids were opened from Perkins Builders - $1,436.00 for 4 foot sidewalk and
$180.00 additional for 6 foot walk by Ohse property. Quentin Chatham bid was
.95 per sq. foot. A general discussion followed.
Motion by Follmer seconded by Thanepohn, that the Street and Alley Committee
act on sidewalk repairs from Bridge Street to State Street and to talk to
property owners in regard to paying half cost. Upon roll all voted awe.
Alderman Thomas then reported that the Library would like to have a share of
the money from the State Income Tax,as their taxes from the Personal Property
Tax is being reduced. A general discussion followed, and tabled until later date.
Mr. Rudy Horton asked permission to add cocktails to his sign in front of the
Barley Fork Restaurant. The city had no objection as long as city attorney Ohse
approved (the ordinances to be checked.)
Mr. Fred Schneider asked a variance on the amount of land to be dedicated as
street along side of the water toner lane at Himes property, and wanted it
decreased from 50 to 401 so the land may be better ut' ized. He was instructed
to bring plot of land in for study.
