MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEEDING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDW=N OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON AUGUST
14, 1969 AT 8:00 P.M.
The clerk called the roll and the following aldermen were present:
1st ward - Bob Thomas, James Follmer
2nd ward - LeRoy Thanspohn
3rd ward - Richard 0. Mitchell, Ralph McHugh
absent - Mayor Coleman, Alderman Florence.
The clerk then asked for somi1nations for mayor pro-tem. Alderman Mitchell was
then nominated by alderman Follmer with alderman Thomas seconding. .Allealdermen

The clerk then read the minutes of the monthly meeting held on July 10, 1969
which were approved as read.
The clerk then read the bills as follows: -

The bills were refered to the finance committiee to be paid if correct.

James Price then gave the monthly report on the water department and-streets and
alleys. Said report was approved as read. Mr. Price then stated that he would
attend a sewer operators course at Waubonsee Community College. Alderman Thomas
seconded by alderman Follmer that the City shall pay cost of course. Upon roll
being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Thomas, Follmer, Thanepohn, McHugh
and Mitchell. Carried.
Chief Prickett then gave the report on the police department for the month of
July. Said report was approved as read.
Mr. Fred Schneider then reported on the Planning Commission. He stated that
the Oommission had voted to pay Mr. James Hall, Commission Secretary, a salary of
$5.00 per meeting. Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Follmer that the City'
shall pay Mr. Hall the said $5.00 per meeting. The following aldermen voted aye;
Thomas, Follmer, Thanepohn, McHugh, and Mitchell. Carried.
Mayor Coleman then appeared at the meeting and assumed his duties.
Mayor Coleman then reported on a letter from the C. B. & Q. Railroad crossings.
The railroad will inspect the crossings to determine and make the necessary repairs.
. Mayor Coleman then read a letter from Senator Mitcheler in regards to sanitary
conditions at Palmer Dam. This has been turned over to the Doaprtment of Conser-
vation for action.
Attorney Ohs* then presented the Tax Levy Ordinance. A general discussion followed.

ttorney Ohse then presented the ordinance entitled the Municipal Service Occupation
• This would raise the tax from 3/4% to 1%. A discussion followed,. Alderman

The Yorkville Jay C's then requested permission to close Church Street from
Center Street to Spring Street and Center Street from King Street to Bridge
Street on the Annual Summer Festival on August 17th. A discussion followed.
Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Mitchell that this be granted and the
Jay C's to provide their own traffic control Upon roll being taken all aldermen
voted aye.
Alderman Thomas then gave a report on street lighting. A discussion followed.
Alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman Thomas the the street lighting committies
to most with Commonwealth Edison to determin where the mercury vapor lights
should go. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
There being no other bussiness alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Thaneophn
that the meeting be adjourned until August 28th at 10:30 A.M. for the purpose
of opeing bids for street repairs finder Motor Fuel tax money and changes in
police salaries.
