FEBRUARY 13, 1969 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON FEBRUARY 13, 1969 AT 8:00 P.M. Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to eall the roll. Upon roll`;being taken the following aldermen were present: 1st ward - James Follmer, Bob Thomas 2nd ward - Vernon Florence 3rd ward - Richard 4titchell Absent: Richard Talker and Duane Hayden The clerk then read the minutes of the regular month)yy meeting held January 9. 1969, said minutes were ordered approved as read. FORM 601-49®.U.S.A. Chief Prickett then gave the monthly report of the police department which was approved as read. Chief Pric'kett then reported that another child had be bitten by the dog at the Cozy Cafe. A general discussion then followed. James Price the gave the report on the water department and the streets and alleys which was approved as read. Mayor coleman the read the resignation of R. P. Fisher from the zoneing board of appeals. Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Florence to accept said resig- nation. upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye. The clerk then opened bids for a new car,..for the police department. The were as follows: Standard Motor Sales (Dodge) 2161.50 Olaf Gjovik (88 Olds) 2596.29 (Chew) 2204.00 Zentmeyer Ford 1300.00 Lies Chevrolet 1460.00 Swanson Plymouth 1999.00 A general discussion followed. alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Florence that the police committiee study said bids and be empowed to purchase the car which best suited the police department. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye. The clerk then opened bids for a tractor for the streets and alleys and water dep.rtment. The were as follows: Johnson Implement Co., (John Deere 2020) 3750.00 Orton Implement Co., (Massey-Ferguson) 5800.00 H. G. Dickson Co., Massey-Ferguson) 4268.00 A general discussion followed; Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Follmer that the bids be tabled until Alderman Hayden returns and the bids can be studied. Attorney Ohse then presented the ordinance establishing wards a2d polling places for the municipal election to be held on April 15th. Alderman Thomas seconded by alerman Florence to accept said ordinance. Upon roll beint taken all alder- men voted Aye. Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman Mitchell that the salary of Aldermen akhd Mayor be raised to $20.00 per meeting. A general discussion followed: Upon roll being taken the aldermen voted as follows: Thomas- Aye; F•o1Ler.- Nay*; Florence- Naye; Mitchell, Aye; and with the tie tote the Mayor voting aye; carried. Alderman mitchell the requested premission for the -'merican Legion to place a memorial (Eternal light ) in the park. A gneral discussion followed; Alderman Florence then suggested that a flag pole be placed with the said memorial. This was refered back t000mmittie for study. Attorney Ohse then gave a report on bond issues for the water tower. He stated that $210,000.00 G. 0• Bond issue or $2309000.00 Hater Rev Bond issued could be made. He explained the difference between the G. 0. and Rev Bonds. FORM 601-49-®,U.S.A. Blane Harker then requested that River Street be opened by his properity on Morgan St. , This was refered to committiee for study. Ther being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
