MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON DECEMBER
12, 1968 AT 8:00 P.M.
Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the
roll. Upon roll being called the following aldermen were present:
1st ward - Bob Thomas, James Follmer
2nd ward - Vernon Florence, Richard Walker
3rd ward - Duane Hayden, Richard Mitchell
The clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting held on November
14, 1968. Said minutes were approved as read.
The clerk then read the bills as follows:

The bills were refered t) the finance committiee bo be paid if found correct.
James Price then gave the monthly report on the water department and the
atteets and alleys which was appiov?dd aura read.

Chief Prickett then gave the monthly report on the police departmebt which was
approved as read.
Mayor Coleman then read the report of the Zoneing Board of Appleas in the
hearing of the Rowland property. The Zoening board had a tie vote which was
the same as a denial. A general discussion followed *ith Mayor Coleman limiting
the time to five minutes for ea8�speaker. Mr. Max Peterson spoke for the
objectors and Attorney John Peterson spoke fof the petitioners. Several
aldermen asked questions and Howard Shick,sKrhe LavernerRowlands, and Dr.
F. G. Loomis then spoke in favor and *4. Perkins, Walt Karkow, and William
Mayor spoke against.
Alderman Florence seconded by alderman Walker that the petition of Mabel
Rowlands to re-zone siad property be denied. Upon roll bung taken the
aldermen voted as follows;
1st ward- Thomas- naye; Follmer; Aye
2nd ward - Walker Aye; Florence Aye
3rd ward - Hayden, not vobeing, Mitchell Naye
Alderman Haydenseconded by alderman Mitchell to table this until. attorney 8hse
could be present for final decession on result of vote. Allealdermen then
vote aye.
A general discussion then followed on }purchasing a furnace for the police
departmnet. Alderman Mitchell then made a motion that the building committie
check into said furnace with the power to accept lowest bid. Alderman Walker
seconded this motion and all alderman voted aye.
Dfids-Weri then open for a new tractor. The were;

A general discussion followed with alderman Follmer seconded Wtalderman Thomas
that this be tabled. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
Mayor Eoleman then appointed Richard Ellis to fill the unexpired term of George
Whitfield on the Zoneing board of Appeals. This term to expire on May 1, 1970.
Alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman Walker to accept said appointnent. Upon
roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
Mayor Coleman then read a letter from the State Fire Marshall that Blane Harker's
W'elf,"Bbrvic6c.,ga5c'Station was in violation with our an ordinance sorveing it's
operation. A general discussion followed. Alderman Thomas seconded by alderman
Follmer that the city attorney be instructed to draw up such an ordinance to be
presented at the next regular meeting. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted
aye.
The yearly work permit for the Division of Highways was presented. Alderman
Hayden seconded by alderman Follmer that it be accepted. Upon roll all aldermen
voted a

A general discussion ifaz had on colseing hours for the taverns on new years
*vev. Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Follmer that the taverns be allowed
to remain open until 2 AM, January 1.
There being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
