Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present: 1st ward - Bob D. Thomas, James W. Follmer 2nd ward - L&wrenee Gardner, Vernon Florence 3rd ward - Duane Hayden, Absent - Richard Mitchell Mayor Coleman then directed the clerk to open the bids for the water main exten- sion on Hydaaulic Ave. They were as follows: Davis Construction Co. , $10, 179.50 M & c Oonstruction Co., $11,373.00 Chas. O'_;Brien Const Co., $15,296.50 Matt 14alton Const Co., $14,814.50 A general ,liscussion followed the opening of the bids. Alderman •Hayden seconded by alderman Gardner to accept the low bid of the Davis const Co., Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Thomas, F'ollmer, Gardner, Florence and Hayden. Carried. The Mayor then instructed the clerk to read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting held on April 13th and the Adjourned meeting held on April 20th. ' Mayor Coleman then made the following appointments (see attached sheet.) to be from May 1, 1967 until Xpril 30, 1968. Chief Saum then .lave the report on the police department for the month of April 1967. Said report was approved. James Price then read the report of the water department and the streets and alleys for the month of April, k967. Said report being approved. ;Mayor Coleman then made the following appointments: C. Robert Ohse to be city attorney at the salary of $25.00 per month with the privilage of billing for additional services. Leroy Saum to be acting chief of police at the salary of $500.00 per month. He shall have two weeks vadation after one year of service and one day per month of sick leave up to and not exceeding 14 days. James Price to be superintendent of the water department and streets and alleys at the salary of "5`5.00 per month, to be paid 50% from each the general and water funds. He shall receive two weeks vacation rlus one day for each year over ten years of service, and one day per month of sick leave up to and not exceeding 14 days. Gerald E. Schmidt to be patrolman at the salary of $450.00 per month. Fie shall receive two weeks vacation after one year ofservice and one day per month up to and not exceeding 14 days. Patrick Brunner to be relief patrolman at the salary of $2.00 per hour. LeRoy Johnson and employee in the water department and the street and alleys at the salary of $1.25 per hour. Upon_ the nominations being made alderman Gardner seconded by alderman Florence to accept them. the following aldermen voted aye: Thomas, Follmer, Gardner, Florence and Hayden. Mayor Coleman then re-appointed Grace Fisher,:-"Mary Joe Gardner and Jessie schobert to the library board. Alderman Florence seconded by alderman Hayden to accept:-,aaW appointments. 'Thomas as a member of the library board. alderman Hayden sconeded by alderman rlorence to accept said appointment. Upon roll being taken All aldermen voting aye. A general discussion was had on clerk hire for the city treasurer. Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Follmer that Marylin Merkel be appointed deputy city trbasrer t the salary of $200.00 per year. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voting aye: Thomas, ;-Ulmer, Gardner, Florence and Hayden. A gneral discussion was had on clerk hire Ebr the city clerk. lderman Thomas seconded by alderman Follmer that the clerk be allowed to ap;-oint a clerk at the salary of $200.00 per year. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voting aye: Thomas, Follmer, Gardner, r lorence, and layden. Arlie P. Lough then submitted the final report as building inspector, this was accepted as read. Alderman Florence then gave a report on the proposed utility tax for the city. He reported that the city should receive about $13,000.00 per year at S$. This was referedtn committiee for study. Public utilities and Finance. Alderman Thomas the asked permission for the Yorkville Jaycees to operate a stand at the Little League ball park. Permission was granted for this. Alderman Hayden then asked permission for the firemen to use the city parks on the 4th of July and forthh fire men to solicit for funds to use for the celebration on the fourth. Permission was granted. A general discussion was had on park on Hydraulic Ave from Bridge street west to the al .ey. Alderman Hayden seconded by Follmer that parrell parkingbe here with one space reserved for the phone company as a loading zone. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye. It was then reported that the state of Illinois has turn-d control of the dam to the City of Yorkville, the requested th- t a 10 P.M. kerfew be place there. ' general discussion followed. This was fnrned to the park committiee for study. Alderman Florence then reported that F. J. McNelis would removik the stumps between Bristol road and Freemont Street on Walnut street. A general disdussion followed. Alderman Florence seconded by alderman Gardner to remove all stumps on walnut Street with all aldermen voting aye. Mayor Coleman then submitted the annual library report which was accepted and f il'.ed. Mr. Charles Dirst, secretary of the Grade school board then reporte on the school burchase ofuniforms for crossing uards, and a meeting with the water committiee for getting water for the new grade school. Alex Engle then presented a plan for hospital and accident Insurance for the city employees. This was refered to he health committiee for study. �I FORM 601-49® U.S.A. A gneral discussion was had on purchasing a used tuck °or use in the water department and tth streets and alleys. The cost to be $1000.00. hlderman Floonce seonded by Alderman Thomas to .-.urchase said truck. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Thomas , Follmer, Gardner, Florence and Hayden. There being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
