MINUTES OF THE REGULAR TONTLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDER4EN OF THE UNITED CITY
OF THE VILLAGE OF `iORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, FIELD ON APRIL 14, 1967 at 8:00 P.M. IN
TI-- CITY HALL.
In the absence of Mayor Madden, the clerk called the meeting to order and asked
for nominations for a mayor pro-tem. Alderman Coleman was nominated and seconded
as mayor pro-tem, all aldermen voting ate.
The clerk then called roll with the following aldermen answering&

2nd ward - Lawrence Gardner, Vernon Florence
3rd ward - Duane Hayden, Richard Mitchell.
The clerk then read the minutes of the regular nonthly meeting held on March 9,
1967- Said minutes were ordered approved.

The bills were referred to the finance committiee to be paid if found correct.
The police report was read by chief Saum and accepted as read.
The report on s`re� ts and alleys and the water '.epartment was presented by
James E. Price. Said report accepted z read.
The bids for street repairs under motor fuel tax money was presented. Alderman
Hayden seconded by alderman Mitchell to accept low bid of Aurora Blacktop Co.
in the amount of $14,582.75• Upon roll being called the following aldermen
voted aye: Coleman, Garnder, Florence, Hayden and Mitchell.
The street committiee was instructed to meet and determine what streets should
be sealed under Motor Vehicle Tax Yoney.
Alerman Hayden then began a discussion on clean bursh along Walnut Street. this
was tabled until a later date.
Alderman Gardner then gave a report on water for the new grade school at Mill and
Orange Stre-.ts also on raising water pressure in low water pressure areas.
Mr. Charles Doetschman, prsident of the grade school board ,-Tas present and
expressed the views of the school board in regards to water service for he school.
The water committiee was instructed to meet with the school board.:-. '
A general discussion was had on back fill on the new water main for Hydaulic St.
it was decided to use gravel, and resurface the street with a-3 coating. The
bids to be opened at the next regular meeting on May 11th for the water main
extension.
Mr. Alex Engel then presented the board with figures for covering the employees
with health and accident insurance. This was referred to the finance committiee
for study.
Arlie P. Lough, building inspector then presented his resignation. Alderman
seconded by alderman Mitchell to accept said resignation effective the 11th
of May. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
A general discussion followed as to a--pointing a city collector. Bessie Lough
of the Farmers state Bank would be will to accept the appointment. This is
to be discussed with the Bank to see if they are agreable §��� appointment to
be made April 20th.

Alderman Gardner seconded by alderman Florence that the judges of election be
paid $15.00 salary for sery-ng as election judges. Upon roll bein taken all
aldermen voted ayel
John Milner, Jayeee's prAsident then requested that the Jaycees be alowed to
sell Merchants Saving Coupon books in the city of Yorkville by going from
house to house. the money to be used for the new Yorkville Park. Alderman
Mithcell seconded by alderman Coleman that they be alowed to do this without
charge. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
Alderman :Mitchell teen proposed that a $2.00 Permonth charge be made for
garbage removal, with said charges added to water bills. A general discussion
followed. A utility tax on gas and lights was also proposed. This was refered
to committiee for study.
There being no other business the meeting was adjourned until April 20th at
6:30 P.M.
