MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MON'T'HLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON FEBRUARY 9, 1967 AT 8:00 P.M. Mayor Madden called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll. Upon the roll being called the following aldermen were present: 1st ward - Robert Coleman 2nd ward - Lawrence Gardner, Vernon Florence 3rd ward - Daune Hayden, Richard Mitchell The clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthX--y meeting held On January 13, 1967• Said minutes were ordered approved as read. The monthly report of the police department was read by chief Saum and ordered approved as read. FORM 601-49® U.S.A. James Price then read the monthly report on the water department and the streets and alleys. Mr. Price then passed out the yearly report on the water department followed by a gneral discussion. lderman Hayden then reported on the police committiee that the police department 6 `0 f egin issueing Arrest tickets for not displaying vehicle tags on February 15th. Mayor Madden then discussed a letter from Mr. Stev n R. Stroud to the chicago Motor Club in regards to setting up the w 3" �� O training. Alderman Hayden then reported on a Joint meetin between the police committiee and the School Board on the crossing guards. e city to furnish a shelter for the crossing guard and the school to furnish belts and etc for the patrol boys. Alderman Gardner then reported on the water committiee meeting in regards to supplying the new grade and junior high school with water. The school will be asked to stand the entire cost of the loop in the water main under route 47. The city would then stand the cost of looping the other areas of the city which would be affected by the new school. Alderman @ ardner then presented the proposed new water rates: Change the present minimun to $5.00 for the first -400 feet and add 5 cents to each additional rate. A general discussion followed inregards to '.supplying the new school with water and a change in the water rates. :Mayor Madden then reported on the progress of obtaining Federal funds for the proposed water tower. He stated that a meeting with the Federal Farm Administratic and the city council would be held in the near future. Alderman Florence then j-ve ' he prices for tree from the Winding Creek Nursery. The price to be from $7 to $8 per tree. This was tabled until a later date. Alderman Florence then reported on changeing the present 89 incondesent lights with Mercury Vapor lights. The city to pay the cost over a 4 year period and the Commonwealth Edison Company taking up to three years to replace present lights. A gneral discussion followed. Mayor Maden the read a reply from Dr. L. A. Wunsch on the sewer hook-up from his office. He stated that he would comply with the city 6ecu and make the hook-up as soon ad possible. Attorney Ohse was instruct to Wunsch and request the he keep the city informed on the progress being made. A petition was read to vacate a portion of an unmaned street going thourgh the Walter Olson Jr. . Property. Alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman 'Gardner to vacate said land. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye. Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden and Mitchell. Mayor !Sadden they. 1(-- nrted that the Department of Public Works and Buildings are working on a park at the south end of Palmer dam and to include boat docking factlit*es. A general discussion then followed on parking by the telephone office on Hydraulic Street. Alderman Mitchell suggesting that there be parrell parking only. This was tabled . FORM 601-49® U.S.A. 4alter E. Deuchler Assoc, presented the resulution for street reparias under Motor Fuel Tax Money. This was read and a gmwnal discussion followed. Adlerman Coleman seconded by alderman Hayden to accept said resolution. Wpon roll being called the following aldermen voted aye: Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden and Mitchell. An ordinance change',ng the boundry and polling Illaces in watds one and two wax presented by the city attorney. A gneral discussion followed. Alderman Coleman seconded by alderman Gardner to accept said ordinance. Upon roll being taken the following alderman voted aye: Coleman, Gardner, Flptenc4i;.Hayden and Mitchell. Alderman Mitchell then reported on the water running over the sidewalk from falty gutters at the Cozey Cafe and the lose cabals on the sign at the Barley fork resturant. There being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
