City Council Minutes 1966 09-29-66 Special FORM 601-49®U.S.A. September 29, 1966 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN. OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON SEPTEMBER 29, 1966 AT 8:00 P.M. Pak US PURPOSE OF APPOINTING A ACTING CHEEY OF POLICE, PATROLMAN, AND SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD. Mayor madden called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present: ist ward - Roger Burroughs, Robert Coleman 2nd ward - Vernon Ylorence, Lawrence Gardner 3rd ward - Duand Hayden, Richard Mitchell Mayor Madden first brought up the crossing guard. Attorney Dallas Ingemunson representing the Yorkville J C's stated that the Yorkville Woman's Club had donated $50.00 with a pledge for an additional $50.00, the J C's had donated $100.00 and the City of Yorkville had pledged $200900. A general discussion followed. Mayor Madden then nominated Beverly Pulfer as school crossing guard at the salary of $4.00 per day until funds have been used. She is to work one hour before school in the mornings and one hour after school in the afternoons. Alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman Burroughs to accept said nomination. The following aldermen voted aye: Burroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden, and Mitchell. Mayor Madden then read a letter form the police committiee recommending that he accept resigination of Chief of Police Frank Martyn and appoint LeRoy Saun acting �'hief of police. Mayor Madden then on advice of the police committiee accepted Martyn's resigination and monimated Leroy Saum as acting ohieffoffpoliae at the salary of $470.00 per month with one weeks vacation after one year and and one day sick leave per month up to and not execeeding 14 days. Alderman Coleman Seconded by alderman Mitchell to accept mayor Madden's recomendationso upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Burroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden and Mitchell. Mayor Madden then nominated Gerald Schmidt as patrolman at the salary of $425.00 per month with one weeks vacation after one year and 1 day per month sick leave up to and not exceeding 14 days. The firs six months of his employment bhall be IMBIRM probationary. Alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman Burroughs to accept acid nomination. The following alderman voted aye: Burroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden, and Mitchell.
