MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ?MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON AUGUST
11, 1966 AT 8:00 P.M.
Mayor Madden called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the
roll. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen"-were present:
1st ward - Roger Burroughs, Robert Coleman
2nd ward - Lawrence Gardner, Vernon Florence
3rd ward - Duane Hayden, Richard Mitchell
The clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the mayor
and aldermen held on July 14, 1966. Said minutes were ordered approved.
The clerk then read the bills as follows:

The police report for the month of July was read and approved.
A general discussion was had on garbage removal due to the closing of the
dump leased by Archie �ieritz.
A general discussion was had on city officials attending the Illinois Municipal
league convention in Chicago on September 10-11-12-13. Alderman Mitchell
seconded by Alderman Hayden that anyone attending be alowed 8¢ per mile,
hotel;. and registration fees. Upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye.
Alderman Hayden then gave a report on the police committiee and the sale
of vehicle tags for the city.
Mr. George Cies then gave a talk on having a school crossing guard for the
Burrough of Bristol. He wanted the city to contribute some finical help.:,
Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Coleman that the City contrubute
$200900 providing that the school furnish crossing guards so that the
students will be funneled to the one crossing of Bridge street. Upon roll
being taken all aldermen voted aye.
Alderman G:-rdner then reported on the water committiee. He st ted that
the cost of a 300,00 gallon water tower would be $100,000.00 and the committiee
thought the best way of raising nomey would be by a general obligation bond
issue.
Attorney Ohse then read the tax levey ordinance. Alderman Mitchell seconded
by alderman Burroughs to acdept said ordinance. Upon roll being taken the
following aldermen voted aye. "urroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence,
Hayden and Mitchell.
Arlie Lough then requested a raid in sal�:ry. A general discussion followed.
