MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED
CITY OF THE VILLhGE OF YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MAY 13, 1965
AT 8:00 P.M.
Mayor Madden called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll.
Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present:
1st ward - Roger Burroughs, Robert Coleman
2nd ward - Lawrence Gardner, Vernon Florence
3rd ward - Duane Hayden, Richard Mitchell
The clerk then read the minutes of the regular monthly meeting held on April 8,
1965- Said minutes were ordered approved.
The clerk then read the bills as follows:

The bills were refered to the finance committiee to be paid if found correct.
James Price then gave his monthly report on the Water Department and the Streets
and alleys. Said report was accepted as read.

The Yorkville Jay-Cees then request d the following:
Permission to plant trees in the park and where to place them, this was refered
Trees and park committiee.
Paint speed limit signs at city limits, this was refered to the police committie
Information on the park by the cemetery, this was supplied by James Price.
To rent the city hall for meetings, this was refered to the Building and Zoning
Committiee.
Chief Martyn then gave a report on the activities of the police depa*tment for the
month of April which was approved as read.
A general discussion was had on purchasing a mower for use with the city tractor.
Arlie Lough reported on oneat Marsalles, Illinois. Alderman Mitchell seconded by
alderman Coleman for the 5-("J4alCommitties to act on this mower. Upon roll
being taken all aldermen voted aye.
A general discussion was had on street repairs under motor fuel tax money. Alderman
Hayden seconded by alderman Mitchell to award contract to Charles O'Brien and ons
the Contract for said repairs. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted
aye: burroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden and Mitchell.
The new garbage contract with Mr. Archie Bier.itz was read by Attorney Ohse. Aldermai
Burroughs seconded by alderman Coleman to accept said contract. Upon roll being tak4
the following aldermen voted aye: Burroughs, Coleman, Gardner, Florence, Hayden,
and Mitchell.
Mayor Madden then appointed James E. Price as Supertindent of the water works and
Supertindent of streets and alleys at the sal ry of $500.00 per month with j0% from
each the water and general funds. He shall have two weeks vacation and one day of
sick leave per month up to and not exceeding 14 days. Alderman Coleman Seconded by
alderman Gardner to confirm said appointment and all aldermen voting aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed Franklin Martyn Sr. , as chief of police at the

of $420.00 per month with two weeks vacation and 1 day per month up to andkexceeding
14 days. Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Mitchell to confirm said appron&meni
and all aldermen voting aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed Arlie P. Lough as assistant supertindent of water and
assistand supertindent of streets and alleys at the salary of $375.00 per month
with 50% from each the water fund and the general fund. He shall have two weeks
vacation and 1 day per month up to and not exceeding 14 days. Alderman Gardner
seconded by alderman Mitchell to confirm said appointement, and all aldermen voting
aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed Bess C. Dunkle as patrolman at the salary of $100.00
per month with the privilage of billing for additional expenses. Alderman Hayden
seconded by alderman Florence to confirmsaid appointment and all aldermen voting
aye.
Mayor Madden the appointed C. Robert Ohse at city attorney at the salary of $20.00
per month with the privilage of billing for additional expenses. Alderman Gardner
seconded by alderman Buz roughs to Eonfirm said approintment and all aldermW voting
aye.

Mayor Madden the appointed John Behrens as City Collector at the salary of $20.00
per month and the privilage of hiring deputies as needed. Alderman Coleman seconder
by alderman Florence to confirms said appointement. and all aldermen voteing aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed LeRoy Johnson as a laborer in the streets and alleys
and the water .7epartment at the salary of $1900 per hour. Alderman Burroughs second(
by alderman Coleman confirmed the appointment and all aldermen voting aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed Roger Weiss Jr. as dog catcher at thessalary of $2.25
per dog. Alderman Burroughs seconded by alderman Mitchell to confirm said appointor(
and all aldermen voting aye.
Mayor Madden then appointed Arlie P. Lough as puilding inspector at the salary of
$5.00 per inspection and the privilage of hiring depurites when needed. Alderman
Mitchell seconded by alderman Hayden to confirm said approintment and all aldermen
voting aye.
Mayor Madden then designated the depositores remain the sames with the expection
that the Xewer Extension Fund be moved from the Farmers State Bank to the Yorkville
national Bank. Alderman Gardner seconded by alderman Coleman to confirm said
depositories and all alderman voiting aye.

box factory.
