City Council Minutes 1960 08-29-60 August 29, 1960 AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDFIRMEN OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILL:E. YORKVILLE, ILLIN IS HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON AUGUST 29, 1960 AT 8:00 P.Ri. Mayor Windett called the meeting to order and imrth6 abtence_of''-the clerk appointed Alderman Duane Hayden clerk. The clerk pro-tem then called the roll: Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present: 1st ward - Elden Madden 2nd ward - Delbert Trummel 3rd ward - Duane Hayden Richard Mitchell The bids for street repairs were then opened. Xhey read as follows: Charles O'Brien and Son, Baum Bldg, Morris, Illinois $1640.00 J. W. Stahl Const. Co., Somonauk, Illinois 1437.50 Loring Const. Co., 128 Scott, Joliet, Illinois 1340.75 Alderman Trummel seconded by alderman Madden to accept the low bid of the Loring Construction Co. for the amount of $1340.75. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Madden, Trummel, Hayden and bitchell. Nayes None. Absent Hughes and Randles. Carried. A discussion was had on the traffic light for the school children. Upon motion of alderman Madden seconded by alderman Mitchell to table this till the next reg- ular meeting all aldermen voted aye. Carried. An agreement was presented by the city attorneyreliving the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad of responsibility in case of accident during construction work. (see attached agreenent) Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Mitchell to accept said agreement. All aldermen voted aye. Carried. Mayor Windett nominated Arlie Lough to assist James price in the street department and the Water Department at the salary of $350.00 per month with 50% from the general fund and 50%from the water fund. He shall have ,:V"1_- week vacation after one year and one day sick leave per month not to exceep 14 days. Alderman Madden seconded by alderman Mitchell talancept this nomination. All aldermen voted aye. carrield. A gneral discussion was had on the pump house and it was decided to restore this building to it's original condition.. A gneral discussion was had on investing the $145,000Sewer Bond issue money in different banks to acculmate interest. The fund to be de)osted in the Yorkville National Bank, Sewer Fund for the Present. There being no futhur business the meeting was adjourned in memory of doctor L. A. Perking
