City Council Minutes 1960 08-11-60 August 11, 1960 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, YORKVILEE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE VILIXGE HALL ON AUGUST 11, 1960 AT 8:00 P.M. Mayor Windett called the meeting to order and directed to call the roll. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen were present: 1st ward - Russell Hughes Elden Madden 2nd ward - Delbert Trummel 3rd ward - Duane Harden Richard Mithcell The minutes of the previous meeting were read aknd ordered approved. Lough, Salary 175.00 LeRoy Johnson, Labor 70.00 Jess Dunkle, Salary 55.00 Exp 63.25 118.25 Everette Goins, Salary and car exp 254.00 Alderman Hughes made the motion to pay all the bills expept the $1048.00 to Muni-Quip Corp untill this bill can be paid by the month. This motion was seconded by alderman Trummell, upon roll being taken all aldermen voted aye. The police report for the month of July was read and ordered approved. The report on the streets and alleys and water department was read and ordered approved. The street and alley and water committiees were instructed to meet tit3h Arlie Lough and try to work out an agreement with him for full time employment with the city. The Yorkville Congerentional Church requested use of the park aiad also to close Center street from Bridge street to King Street on August 28th for the purpose of having a church picnic. On motion of alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Madden the council voted jointley and unaminously aye. Mr. 'Salter Deuchler presented the Eng Est #1 in the amounts of: Davis Const %. $7200.00 Layne Western $27,169.50 W. E. Deuchler #760.75 and $201.60 This was to be paid from the water consturction fund. Alderman nayden seconded by alderman Hughes to pay these bills. Upon rollbeing taken the following alder- men voted aye. Hughes, Madden, EKEM, Trummel, Hayden and Mithcell, Absent Randles The Tax Levey Ordinance was presented and read by the city attorney. The motion to accept said ordinance was made by alderman Madden seconded by alderman Hughes. Upon roll beng taken the following aldermen ipoted aye, nghges, Madden, Trummel, Hayden and Mitchell, Absent Randles, Carried. The ammendtment to the Sewer Ordinance was presented and read by the city attorney Alderman Mitchell second by alderman Hayden to accept said ordinance. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye, Hughes, Madden, Trummel, Hayden and Mitchell, Absent Randles, Varied. M Mr. Garrison Supt of Yorkville Schools and Mr. Hopkins and Stewart had a ganeral discussion with the council regarding the new sidewalks on the bridge. The city clerk was instructed to send a letter to the Division of Highways stating the city position on t�Is natter, that was the city made no specific request for the side walk on the east side of the bridge and also to check about a stop light on the north side of the bridge. Also to block off both sides of present side walk. There bing no futhur business the meeting asadjourned until August 29th, 1960 at 8:00 P.M.
