City Council Minutes 1960 03-10-60 March 10, 1960 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY 24EETING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MARCH 10, 1960 at 8:00 P.M. Mayor Windett called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to take the roll. Upon rolluaing taken the following aldermen were present: 1st ward Russell Hughes Elden Fadden 2nd ward William Randles Delbert Trummel 3rd ward Duane Hayden Richard Mitchell The clerk then read the minutes of the previous meeting and were ordered approved. The clerk then read the bills as follows: Franklin Martyn Sr., Salary 350.00 Franklin Martyn Sr., Car exp 75.00 James E. Price, Salary, Supt of streets 200.00 Max Riemenschneider, Salary and car exp 30.00 Archie Bieritz, Plow snow 114.00 Kendall Farmers Oil Co., Salt 7.68 Earl Price, Garage rent 15.00 C. Robert Ohse, Attorney fees 20.00 Public Service Co., Street lighting 214.96 James E. The police report and the report on the water department and streets and alleys were read and ordered approved. The Franchise between the City of Yorkville and the Public Service Companywas presented and read. On motion of alderman Randles seconded by alderman Hayden to accept said franchise. Upon rollbeing taken the following aldermen voted aye. Hughes, Madden, Ra ndles, Trummel and Hayden. Carried and so ordered. Mr. Glenn Darnell of Plano gave a talk on radiar to be used in traffic control. The police committiee took the under consideration and to report at a later date. The Stddsht Council of Yorkville High Scheel asked permission to Have an election and appoint officers to hold the City offices for April 14th and also have a clean up day. A general discussion was had on changing the Liquor ordinance to give the American Legion a liquor linense and to let the taverns open on Sunday from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. On motion of Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Mitchell that the liquor ordinance be amended. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted Aye: Madden, Hayden and Mitchell, Nayes Hughes, Randles, and Trunnel. Being a tie vote Mayor Windett cast an Aye vote. Carried. On motion of Alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Madden that the Club linense Bee be sht at $100.00 and to change the operating hours so that the taverns may remain open on Sundays from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. Upon roll being taken the following aldermen voted aye: Uadden, Hayden and Mithcell, Nayes Hughes , handles, and Trummel, Being a tie vote Mayor windett cast an Aye vote. Lir. C. Robert Ohse then -lave a talk on the election to be held on April 19, 1960. A general discussion was had on the Hankes building. On motion of alderman Hayden seconded by alderman Mithcell to obtain two appraisers to inspect and determin the the value of said building. Upon roll being taken ail aldermen voted aye. Carried. A discussion was had on the new Yell. Upon motion of alderman Hughes Seconded by Alderman Yadden that the tool room of the be renoved from the present building and to use as little of 111r. Lanes sand as possible. Upon roll being taken the i� following aldermen voted aye Hughes, madden, Randles, Trummel and Hayden. Nayes Alone. On motion of Alderman Hughes seconded by alderman R"ndles to accept the resgination Of Officer Jess Dunk-le, Upon roll being taken all aldermen Voted aye. Naves None. On motion of alderman Hughes aeconded bAr alderman Hay(!en to appoint 17infred !i. Prickett Patrolman. Upon roll being taken all aldermen iroted ave. IlaTes pens. The city clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for garbage removal, said bids to be opened on april 11�, 1960 at 8:00 P.U. There being no futher business the meeting was adjourned.
