MINUTES OF THE R1,GUALR MONT -LY ME'TING OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE UNITED CITY
OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE, HELD AT THE CITY HALL YOR.KVILLE, ILLINOIS AT 8:00 P.M.
THURSDAY MAY 14, 1959.
Mayor Windett called the meeting to order and directed the clerk to call the roll.
Upon roll being taken the BIDllowing aldermen were present:

Elden Madden.
Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Mayor and Alderman held on April 9,
1959 were read and ordered approved.
The Clerk then read the bills as follows?

The Bills were reffered to the finacne commtttiee to be paid if found correct.
Mayor Windett nominated C. Robert Ohse as City Attorney to be paid a retainer of
$20.00 per month plus the privilege of billing the City for extra legal services
performed. On motion by Alderman Randles, seconded by Alderman Trummel the
appointment was confirmed. The council and mayor voted jointly and unanimously
aye.
Mayor Windett nonimated James E. Price for Superintendent of Streets and Alleys
and Superintendent of Water, and Special patrolman to receive as compensation
for the same a salary of $100.00 per week. Said salary to be paid 50% feom the
general fund and 50% from the water fund. In addition thereto said employee shall
be entitled to a 2 week vacation with pay and credited with 1 day sick leave per
month accumulative up to and not exceeding 14 days. Upon motion of Alderman Hayden
seconded by alderman Randles the appointment was confirmed. The council and mayor
voted jointly and unamimously aye.
Mayor Windett nominated Franlin Martyn Sr. for chief of police at the salary be
$350.00 per month plus $75.00 per month police car expense. He shall be entitidd
to 2 weeks paid vacation per year and credited for 1 day sick leave per month ace-
umulatiiae up to and not exceding 14 days. Upon motion of AldermanTrummel seconded
by alderman Mitchell the appointment was comfirmed. The mayor and aldermen voted
jointley and unanimously aye.
Mayor Windett nominated Robert T. Smith as Building Inspector to serve at the
pleasure of the council and to be paid a minmun of 015.00 per building application
with the authorty to hire deputies when necessary. The deputies sha2l receive
minimun compinsation of $5.00 per insection. Upon motion of Aldermanlithcell
seconded by alderman Hayden the appointment was confirmdd. The Mayor and Aldermen
voted jointly and unanimously aye.
Mayor Windett nominate Jess Runkle as partolman at the salary of $].75 per hour
pluss police car expense of $1.00 per day, and ni#ht watchmanwith a salary of
$200.00 per month and $1.00 per day car expense. He shall be entiled to 2 weeks
paid vacation per year and credited for 1 day sick leave per month accumulative
up to and not exceeding 14 days. Upon motion of aldermanTrummel seconded by alderman
Randles the appointment was confirmed. The council and mayor voted unanimously aye.
Mayor Windett nominated Charles E. baird to the office of city collector. He shall
have approved by the board a bond with corporate assurity to be approved by the board
said bond to be in the amount of $3000.00. Upon moti n of alderman Randles seconded
by aldermanHayden the appointment was confirmed. Upon roll being take the mayor
and council voeted jointly and unanimously aye.
Mayor Windett nominated Max Riemensc,uneider as patrolmanat the salary of $25.00 per
month with x.00 car expense. Upon motion of alderman Hayden
seconded by alderman Randles the appointemnt was confirmed. The mayor and council
voted jointly and unanimously aye.
Upon motion of alderman Mitchell seconded by alderman Hayden that all appointed off-
icals whose bond has not heretofore been fixed shall €ile and have approved a '$100.00
Bond. Upon roll'eing taken all aldermen voted aye. arried.
Victor Smith requested that a tree in the parking area in fromt of his porperty be
removed. Smith was requested to obtain someone to remove said tree with the city
paying half the cost.
Chief I'lartyn requested achange in the Peddling and Solicting Ordinace. The said
change to be a 24 hour waiting peroid before license aan be issued. Refered back to
committiee for study.
