The following items were discussed as indicated by number:
1 . Chief Graff informed the Committee that the Intergovernmental
Agreement with the school district for the school liaison
officer only lasts a year, and they would have to go through
negotiation with the school if they wanted to continue it. He
asked for the Committee' s approval to start talking about
continuing with the program. The Committee agreed that the
school liaison program has been beneficial and they would like
it to continue.
2 . Chief Graff informed the Committee that he will be asking for
a Community Service Officer once again for the summer. He will
be splitting the hours for the CSO between two of the
Explorers . Shawn Hagemeyer will be returning as one of the
CSO' s, and Jacqui Watkins will be sharing the position with
him.
3 . Chief Graff asked the Committee for their approval of his
request for 3 part-time officers . One officer would be hired
immediately to replace Ofc. Perkins ' part-time slot. He
informed the Committee he would like to have all three part-
time positions filled by July 1, 1994 .
4 . Chief Graff distributed the monthly reports to the Committee
for their approval.
5 . Chief Graff informed the Committee that he has completed an
application for a Grant from IDOT. This would be used for
traffic enforcement. A finalized draft will be submitted for
the Committee' s approval at the next meeting. Once it is
approved by the Committee, it will be taken to the Committee of
the Whole for their approval.
6 . The next meeting for the Public Safety Committee will be
announced at a later date.
