City Council Minutes 1956 08-06-56 August 6, 1956 The regular monthly meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois was held at the Village Hall of said Village on Monday August 6, 1956 ans was called to order by President Kapelsky at 7:30 o'cloc P.M. Finding present on the roll call were:President Kapelsky, Trustees Windett, Hughes, Olsen,Olson,Randles and Schobert and Clerk Merkel. Nayes - None Carried and so ordered approved. The Clerk then read the following Building Permit Applications. R C Hughes, to erect 2 dwelling houses Hughes Sub-Division, R.F*Yte- to erect one car garage Washington St. C. Heap- to erect dwelling house Madison St. F. Pennuto- to erect cement block business building on Bridge S . On motion by Trustee Schobert, seconded by Trustee Olson that the above mentioned applicants be issued building permits. All Trustees present voting favorably- motion was carried and s ordered approved. Following bids on two -700 a 18 -8ply truck tires, snow were&tu as then read by the Clerk: Kendall Super Service- 125.00 Hayden Garage - 135.60 Hughes Super Service - 167.30 F.Calabreese - 104.00 On motion by Trustee Hughes, seconded by Trustee Windett that lowest bid be accepted. Roll Call- Ayes- Trustees Windett, Hughes, Olsen, Olson, Randle and Schobert. Nayes - None Carried and so ordered approved. August 6, 1956 Mr. Albert was present and asked the Board what they are plannizig on doing to State Street to keep the dust down- After much dis- cussion and on motion by Trustee Schobert, seconded by Trustee Randles that the Street and Alley Committee see to it that State Street south of Washington Street be graded and one and one half Inch stone be spread thereon- Dolph Street from Main to State Street be graded and if the committee thinks it necessary to grad Franklin Street from Mill to the existing homes on thtt Street, . All Trustees present voting favorably- motion was carried and so ordered approved. The Tax Levy Ordinance was then read by the Clerk- on motion by Trustee Hughes, seconded by Trustee Schobert that the above Tax Levy Ordinance be passed and adopted.Qx Roll Call- Voting as follows: Trustee Windett- Aye Trustee Hughes -Aye Trustee Olsen -Aye Trustee Olson -Aye Trustee Randles-Aye TrusteeSchobert-Aye No Naye Votes- Carried and so ordered approved. Mr. Deuchler was present and gave his opinion and many helpful suggestions on new street lights and narrowing of the sidewalks. On motion by Trustee Olsen, seconded by Trustee Hughes that Mr. Deuchler draw a tentative plan of new street lights and narrowing of the sidewalks, and that this plan be presented to the Village Board at the next regular meeting of the Village Board. All Trustees present voting favorably, motion was carried and so ordered approved. On motion by Trustee Randles, seconded by Trustee Olson that the Village purchase 5 No U Tarn signs and post same on Bridge Street between Hydraulic and VanNmons Streets. Roll Call- Ayes- Trustees Windett, Hughes, Olsen, Olson, Randles and Schobert Nayes-None Carried and so ordered approved. After considerable discussion on the matter of replacing old water mains with new 4 inch cast iron mains and that the price of pipe would increase considerably-on motion by Trustees Olsen, seconded by Trustee Windett that the Village purchase 3000 feet of 4 inch cast iron pipe and all fittings necessary. Roll call - Ayes - Trustees Windett, Hughes, Olsen, Olson.Ramdleii and Schobert, OEM* Nays - None Carried and so ordered approved.
