City Council Minutes 1956 06-18-56 June 18, 1956
-� The adjourned regular gular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees,-of
the Village of Yorkville, Kendall, County, Illinois was held at the Village
HaA of said Village on Monday June 18, 1956 at 7:30 O'clock P.M.
Finding present on roll call were President Kapelsky, Trustees Windett,
Hughes, Olsen, Olson, Schobert and Clerk Merkel.
Absent - Randles
A Building Permit application was read from Russell Hughes to erect a singl
family dwelling, tri-level of brick and frame construction, with fireproof roo
on Lot No. 5, Hughes Subdivision, Elizabeth St. And house is to be erected
according to all Village Zoning requirementa. On motion by Schobert, seconded y
Olsen, that Russell Hughes be issued a building permit and that the Zoning Off' er
should issue this permit. All Trustees voting favorably. Motion was carried
and so ordered approved.
The ftlice Department was instructed to direct traffic and other police
duties at the Fourth of July Celebration, to be hela in the Village of Brist
on July 4, 1956.
A letter from Mrs. Edith Allen was read by the Clerk stating that she this
it a mista#e that the owners of business properties should pay all expenses j
involved in narrowing the sidewalk and putting up new light standards. It wo
be much fairer to spread this expense among all owners of Village property.
The Clerk was instructed to file this letter.
After considerable discussion and opinions of two visitors, D. C. Mewhirte
and Clarence Beecher, on the subject of narrowing the sidewalks it was decided
that the Streets & Alleys & Lights Committees should have a plan or blueprints
drawn up by Public Service Engineers, and that each owner of business property
be contacted, and given approximately the cost per foot of narrowing the sidemi
And the committees to report to the Village Board just how many of the Business
property owners would share the cost of narrowing the sidewalk.
The President than read the following letter_,from_the Lions Club:

Gentlemen:
> At the regular meeting of the Yorkville Lions Club on Tuesday June
1956, the following motion was made and seconded, "That the Yorkville Lions C1
go on record as being opposed to the methods of operation of the Speed Trap as
now being conducted by the Village of Yorkville." The motion was carried
unanimously.
