Discussion:
1 .) Root Control Sewers - Price Quotes - Ralph has been given all the
information. Ralph is Going to contact Deuchler and have them look
over the information. City will have someone do the application. This
will cost about $5200. J.T. feels this amount has been budgeted.
2.) Drug & Alcohol Testing - Any City employee with a CDL license will
have to take a drug and alcohol test. This is a State mandated law.
J.T. would like to loin Midwest Truckers Association. The cost to join
is $1500. They will handle everything. They will come once or twice
a year and do the testing. The employees know this is coming and
have already been through training. They have also consented Dan
needs to look at information. This needs to fit in legally with the
current employee handbook. Nanninga will check the budget.
3.) Valve Insertion for Tower Painting - A valve needs to be inserted into
the ground ,just outside the water tower. Have to do this under
pressure. J.T. is unable to shut this well down without inserting the
valve. If he enables this well for painting, the jail will not have water.
The cost is $6100.
4.) Leaf Burning - Oswego was very helpful. Oswego will bring over their
leaf rake when it is not in use for Public Works to look at while they
are building/making a rake for Yorkville. Approximate cost for the
rake is $1 0,000. Need to contact TCD on cost of removal. Oswego
has a street sweeper, Yorkville_does not, so City will have to do some
clean up after leaves are removed. Dan will need to start working on
some rough drafts for the ordinance.
5.) Next Meeting Date - Monday, March 25, 1996.
6.) 1996-1997 Budget - Street Department truck was eliminated. This
was the one ton dump truck. Truck cost was going to be split with
Street, and Parks. Parks cannot come up with the money. This was
Kin o be an additional truck. Will keep a watch on the Public
Works Development Fund. If there is surplus then Public Works could
- Page 2 -
purchase truck at a later time. Stafford feels the City should consider
looking for a 93-94 used one tone dump truck for $10,000. City has
plans on selling to C62 two ton dump truck.
7.) Additional Business -
Spang is concerned with the street light in front of Naumanns. The
street light is corroding at the bottom. J.T. says he will have this
fixed within two weeks.
Lynch was wondering when the traffic light at Fox and Rt. 47 was
going to be put in. State has said they would be puffing things in
underground in the fall but this has not happened yet. The traffic
light at Van Emmon and Rt. 47 is going to be revamped. The City
will have to pay $4300 of the revamp of this traffic light.
Schmanski would like to get the update of the sanitary from Deuchler
for the atlas. Needs digital copy/file. Nanninga will check with
Deuchler.
Orange Street and Circle Center corner - Road needs to be
redone there. The buses cut the corner. This is in need of major
repair. J.T. is looking to fix it this year.
